He was a surveyor for the building of Airstrips during the war. He was wounded while serving in Korea and received the Purple Heart. My grandmother has some pictures of men that he served with from that time if anyone is interested in having a look. Would be glad to speak to anyone who might have known my grandfather. Thanks. | GARY RYAN wrote on August 28, 2005 CITY AND STATE: WILLINGBORO NJ UNIT: 931ST EAG - 930TH EAG SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: ARMY VETERAN Comments: I served with the 931st Engineer Aviation Group @ Yong Dong Po from April 1953 thru March 1954. The unit designation was officially switched from 931 to 930 (the original 930 being in Taegu) so regimental hdqtrs. could send the preferred 931 unit to Okinawa as ordered. The last few weeks of my time were spent @ the 811th Engineer Aviation Battalion near Seoul. I have located one friend from 1953 and would be interested in knowing about others. I recall Capt. Bill Killian, Lt. Gene Urban, Cpl. L. Roach, Cpls. Billy Dinsmore, Rodney Otto, John Scuteri, Tom Totushek, Herman Rohr and Bobby Scott. Keywords: Yong Dong Po, Korea |
