Comments: My uncle died last year and I was given his DD Form 214, and all I see on there is that he served in the 919th EAB from 1952 - 1954. I never got the oppurtunity to talk with him about his service and I am wondering if anyone knew him, Emil J. Brutout, or if you can tell me anything about the unit. I am a retired paratrooper that served in the gulf war and I enjoy researching military history. Please email me if you have any information about him, the 919th EAB, the unit patch, etc.

Also, thank all of you for your service to our great country!

Comments: Reply to John Irving. I was with the 919th for a year and a half( '52-'53) SCARWAF = Special Catagoery Army Reassigned With the Air Force. We changed the end to,WITHOUT A FUTURE.... This branch was disbanded in'54 or '55. Our purpose was the maintain the equipment for building and maintaining air strips The unit was driven back in 1950. I'm not clear on the survivals but, my understanfing is that many came back to Suwon and we made our hoome in the remains of a paper mill. We got a lot of our supplies from Det. 1,Pusan. Sorry I don't have more info Re: '50/'51... Can't help you Travis; Inchon was about 40 miles NW ofwhere I was and the landing if I remember right was before I got there..... Clark Rafford....The 919th was there. Iwas with them for a year and a half. Baker, cook, mess Sgt. The info you are looking for should be on your uncle's DD 214, discharge..... Brenda Zelinski.... I'm poor remembering names but, I think McBride was one of those in our Maint. group but, I'm not sure. There were approximately 200 in our outfit which included two (2) Det., one in Pusan and the other in Wejonboo ( not sure of the Sp.) Joseph Peck..... If your father was in a construction group and it was the 802nd, he was diagonally across the road from the 919th, about 2 to 3 hundred yards. That was where the PX was.... Better late than never.... Cathy Six, I do not remember names well but, I think tere was a Charles Schweiger in our outfit. And, If I'm right he rotated back to the state shortly after I got there. First barricks across the river, third bunk on the left, maybe yes/maybe no.....

Comments: I'd like to know the Korean War history of the 919th. The actions, locations, dates and duties of the unit. Who was their parent headquarters, who did they support, who was assigned to 919th EAMC (-)@ Suwon, and who was with Det 1 919th @ Pusan. Who or what is SCARWAF? Was the unit overrun by the enemy......when, where, why? Who/how many survived if this occurred.

My records indicate that the 6403d Personnel Processing Squadron processed my uncle into Korea, assigned him the 919th EAMC, and then processed him out of Korea. However, no dates are shown on the file.

My uncle had terrible dreams/nightmares for the remainder of his life......so I know he suffered something terrible.

Keywords: 919th Engineer Aviation Maintenance Company (-) Suwon, S. Korea and Detachment 1, 919th EAMC, Pusan, S. Korea.....1950-1951? My uncle, Charles Ross Irving, was a member of this unit when it was overrun by North Koreans and/or Red Chinese. It's my understanding that he was one of the few survivors, if not the only survivor of this action. I'm trying to piece its history together to determine what happened, when it happened, where it happened and what the losses were.

Since the recent passing of my grandfather who was a Veteran of this war, I thought that maybe someone who was also involved could give me some information. Thank you for your time and patience.

Comments: My dad is looking for information about his unit's landing in Korea. The VA says that they have no record of the 919th ever being in Korea. He needs the information to receive medical benefits. If you have any information on this I would really appreciate your asisstance.

Comments: looking for any one who might remember my father, Joseph A. Peck. He was in the 930th Engineer Aviation Group in Korea between Jan. 1951 and Mar.1952 and was stationed in Pusan and possibly Seol. He could have been in the 802nd,811th,822nd EAB or the 919th Engineer Aviation Maintenance Company but not sure. Buddies that he knew and served with were: Marstine (Jackie) Blanton from Florida, Clarence L. Harmon and Howard Murray from Missouri. Please email me if you can help.
