Comments: My grandfather was in the Korean War and left me a beautiful silk flag. I
can see the lighting bolt insignia and many of the symbols but I don't
know about it. He never talked about his time in Korea except when I was
in 8th grade doing a project and he corrected my text book. If anyone
has any information about the Battery C 8th Field Artillery Battalion please
email me about where I can find information.

SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FRIEND OF VETERAN

Comments: Dear friends:

I am writing a book about a man named Fernando "Hard Luck" Corral who served in Charlie Company, 8th Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division in Korea. He served there in 1951 and 1952 and saw action in Ch'orwan, the Iron Triangle, Punch Bowl, Mungdungni Valley, and Kumhwa Valley.
I would like to have correspondence with anyone who knew Corral, the Mexican bullfighter who operated a 105mm howitzer. He got the nickname "Hard Luck" because of several bizarre incidents. One of these incidents occurred when, during heavy fighting, his hand got stuck in the howitzer.
I would also like to know the approximate dates when his unit, Charlie Company, was in the Iron Triangle, the Punch Bowl, Mungdungni and Kumhwa valleys and in Ch'orwan, as well as any descriptions of the fighting and conditions there.
Any assistance to me on this will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Travis M. Whitehead

I am searching for information/comrades that may have served with my father, Boyd W. Altom during the Korean War. He was from AR. and completed Basic training at Camp Chaffee, AR in May, 1951. Later he was stationed in San Francisco assigned to the SV BTRY, 8th F.A. BN, which I believe to be a part of the 25th Infantry Division. He then went to Korea and later Germany. His ranks were Specialist-2 and Sergeant, Signal Corps. One of his Army Buddies name was Arthur Seagrave from New York...Any help locating information about his unit or comrades would be greatly appreciated...please email me...thanks
