FERNANDO 'HARD LUCK' CORRAL

Column_1_Spacer Column_2_Spacer
Travis Whitehead wrote on 2004-06-25 13:09:30.0

Comments: Dear friends:

I am writing a book about a man named Fernando "Hard Luck" Corral who served in Charlie Company, 8th Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division in Korea. He served there in 1951 and 1952 and saw action in Ch'orwan, the Iron Triangle, Punch Bowl, Mungdungni Valley, and Kumhwa Valley. I would like to have correspondence with anyone who knew Corral, the Mexican bullfighter who operated a 105mm howitzer. He got the nickname "Hard Luck" because of several bizarre incidents. One of these incidents occurred when, during heavy fighting, his hand got stuck in the howitzer. I would also like to know the approximate dates when his unit, Charlie Company, was in the Iron Triangle, the Punch Bowl, Mungdungni and Kumhwa valleys and in Ch'orwan, as well as any descriptions of the fighting and conditions there. Any assistance to me on this will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Travis M. Whitehead
