Comments: My Uncle was 1st. Lt. Herbert L Jordan. He was platoon leader for Co. L on Sept. 18, 1950. He was killed in battle that day. I am having trouble finding information of the battle to take Hill 312. If anyone out there knows this information I would appreciate you e-mailing me. My father was Capt. Willie Jordan who was Com. Co of 'B' company, 23rd Infantry and fought the Battles of the Punch Bowl, Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge in 1951. He was awarded two silver stars, two purple hearts and several other decorations. He also served in Saipan and Okinawa in WWII where he was awarded the bronze star and others. He retired a vet of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, now resting in Arlington Cem. with is kid brother Lt. Jordan (who also won the Silver Star that day for his gallantry) and my grandfather Col H Jordan who was a vet of WWI and WWII (awarded the bronze star and others). I have gathered information around all their battles, but am having troubles finding some on exactly HILL 312. thanks to anyone who could assist.

McCoy used to get me to go out on patrol with him. He would joke about it because of our names - Hatfield and McCoy. Murray was one of the platoon leaders. Pauley and Dial were the two men I spent a lot of time with over there. Hibbetts I carried out of enemy lines on my shoulders because he was shot in the neck. I just remember bits and pieces. Comments: I am looking for any info on Sergeant James Joseph Walsh 1st Cav. Div. He was from the Bronx, Kings Co. NY.
He was declared missing Nov. 2 1950.
Officially declared dead Dec. 31, 1953.
We believe that his position was over run and the body was never recovered in North Korea.
We know he was a "light weapons assault infantryman.'
His number was RA12319466.

He was my father's first cousin. My father is still alive. (My father served in the Royal Navy on an aircraft carrier during this same time period.) We know nothing else about him other than what this web site KoreanWar.org has provided.

We sent off to the Army Service Record Office in St. Louis, Mo. in July this year and to date have not heard back.

I am the family historian. This is a gray area in our past that we would like to find out more about. Any scrap would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Steve Walsh

Comments: There is a reprint available at http://turneronline.com of the 1st cavalry division korea 1950-1952 book. I was told that the original book was available for sale to soldiers when they were leaving Korea, at that time. The back of the book has a full-looking roster (Im not an expert) breaking groups down as far as what company they were in. I can't say how perfect the listing is, because there were some names I saw on this message board that I thought i might find listed in the books roster, but I couldnt find them. My dad's name was listed, and his friends were too. It also has the most detailed history of the first cavalry during that time that I have found (but again, I'm no expert). Maybe people would want to see if its in the library first?

here is a direct link to the page.

http://turneronline.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD and Store_Code=tpc and Product_Code=%2FArmy%2FCavalry%2F1cav-Korea.html

if the link doesnt work just look around the website it was easy to find.

I dont work for this company; if its bad for me to post this link, sorry, just somebody email me and Ill try and take this message down i guess.

My dad was in K Co, 8th Regt, 3rd BN, 1st Cav Div during Korean War period, Summer 1951-1953. He landed in Korea around October, and I think he was around the Jamestown Line area, but I am not sure. A friend of my dads said that they remained in the same foxhole on the same hill for Oct-Dec, and people went out for recon every nine days. I am trying to find out which hill that was, what action their hill saw, and what action they would have been able to see around them. Their hill was attacked (in terms of people trying to climb up it) only once, towards the end of december. They could see airplanes "scraping" enemy hills. If anyone was in K company and might know more of what was going on over there, please contact me. Thanks.

Comments: I am looking for any information about my father.I know very little about what happened to him in Korea. He suffered from flashbacks for many years(from what I was told) after he came back to the states, so I was never able to ask about what happened to him. He received a purple heart and other awards. He passed away last year and I have very little information about that part of his life. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: My uncle MSG Cirildo Valencia was killed in action in Korea, Nov 1950, a month after I was born. My mother, his sister, passed away last year and she always talked about her younger brother and I know she missed an awful lot since that's the only brother she had.
If anyone has information about my uncle please share it with me since he had a son who is living in New Jersey, but we have lost contact.

In military records he is listed as Cirildo Valencio, but the correct spelling is Valecia.

Thanks and I will greatly appreciate any or all information who anyone can furnish which I will share it with my cousin.
My uncle was born and raised in Carrizo Springs, TX (Dimmitt County).
