Comments: Was stationed in Korea from April 1951 to November 1952. Was in the 2nd Engineering Construction Group stationed in Yongdongpo Korea. The 84th Battalinon was one of our construction battalions. I was a surveyor, one of a group of about 6, who spent most of our time camped out on the south rim of the Imjin River doing preliminary surveying for the design and construction of bridges across the Imjin. The 84th was stationed in the area also doing the construction work. My last project was doing the preliminary survey for the X-Ray bridge site. I still have a copy of the original contour map we made. This job was done in November 1952, just before my tour was over.

Comments: I've noticed that a number of family members of Korean vets who were in the 84th construction battalion are wondering what is was like over there in Korea in 1951 and 52. I spent considerable time around the 84th on the Imjin as a surveyor in the 2nd Engr. Group. The 84th was under this group. If anyone wants more info on what the 84th did you can contact me. I also have some photos of the area of bridge building.

Comments: I' looking for anyone who served with and knew my dad who was Sgt.Fred Hoeksema. He was in Korea from 1/19/51 to 10/24/52- final rank, Staff Sargeant. I have several pictures with names written on the backs, so if anyone would have known or remembered him, please let me know, I'd really like to hear from you. My dad would never talk about Korea and we don't know why. When he passed in 1993, we found out through his memorial servive that he was awarded 2 Bronze stars and 2 silvers. We don't have them, nor did we know any thing about them. I hope someone out there can help shed some light on this for me. Thank You.

Comments: My father, Robert E. Burr, was in the Korean War in the 84th Engineers Construction Battalion. He was from Norwalk Ohio and born February 22, 1932. I know he went to a couple of reunions - One in Wisconsin (I think) and another in Vermont. He passed away August 2003. I have a large scrapbook of photos and other memorabilia from the Korean War that he has kept over the years. Some of the info I put in the Keyword section are from the backs of the pictures. If any of these names mean anything to you or you knew my father, please let me know. Thank you.

Comments: My father (Edward J. McLaughlin Sr.) passed away last month (March 7,2004. He held his memories of his time in Korea very close to his heart. Most often when he or anyone was facing a difficult challenge he would recall some impossible obstacle, working/living condition or disappointing result as a reference point to demonstrate that almost anything can be accomplished with hard work, persistence and the proper perspective. I would really appreciate any information from anyone who remembers my father. Thank you.
