I WAS A MEMBER OF 840TH E.A B |
| ROGER GARDNER wrote on April 20, 2005 CITY AND STATE: TX UNIT: HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, 840TH ENGINEER AVIATION BATT SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: ARMY VETERAN - KOREA Comments: I arrived at Osan Korea (K-55) about Feb. 2, 1954 and was assign to the 840th Engineer Aviation Ballalion, Headquarters Company as a Clerk Typist in the operations unit (S-3). In June of 1954, our unit was relocated to the Seoul City Air Base (K-16), which was an island in the Haun River near Seoul Korea. Being from Kansas, I recall one of my buddies was Harold Reison, who was from Newton KS. Another buddy was Moses S. Moreno from Las Angeles CA. Our unit provided construction and maintenance to these Air Force bases during this time. I understood that the 839th EAB and the 840th EAB constructed the 9000' concrete runway at K-55 in 1952. I returned back from Korea in Dec. 1954 and served the remainder of my tour of duty in the discharge center at Fort Carson, CO. I was discharged in June of 1955. I would be interested in sharing stories with anyone who served during this time period, and especially would enjoy hearing from any of my old buddies in the 840th.
