Comments: My dad was very proud of his service. He talked a lot about Korea,a lot about his friends. There was one person he talked about and we would laugh about.I really can't remember his name, but he said that the man could not read or write, so my dad would help him with his letters from home. This fellow,in returning the favor, would, every time they would ask for volunteers to haul ammo, would speak for my dad,and volunteer my dad.His final rank was S/Sgt.Now,growing up he was known as Darrell Manning, but I do know his middle name was Raymond.I do'nt know if that might help or not.If anyone remembers him, please feel free to contact me.I know that he would really like that.
Keywords: My dad was Darrell Manning,he passed away this last August 9th 2008.He used to talk about a few fellows. One was the name of Claude Williams from Kokomo Indiana.Another was Robert Smith from Louisville Kentucky. Then a Richard Koontz from Pennsylvania. When he went over,he was on a ship called,Simmon B. Buchner.

Comments: Iam looking for information for my dad who was in Korea 1952-1953. He was in the 82nd Ord.I have heard the stories all of my life.He talks about Claude Williams, from Kokomo Indiana.Robert Smith from,Louisville KY.Richard Smith from Pennsylvania. The one truely funny,if there is such a thing, that he talks about sometimes is Claude Williams volunteering my dad to do diffent things. Like Hauling ammo at night.Anyway, if anyone remembers him, please contact me at trogerm2000@yahoo.com This would make his day.

Comments: I was transfered from the four point zone which was 14th Infantry Regement, 25th Infantry Division to a two point zone, the 82nd Ordnance during the Korean war in 1952 and the commanding Officer was Raymond C. Caldwell, The first Sgt was Mayott,SFC Esbend F. Sheridan was the Unit Supply Sgt [Me], the motor sgt was Livingston and Sgt Spiller was the Shipping Sgt and I thank that Baker worked for him as a Shipping Clerk. We were located in one end of a bombed out college building a little ways from the Capital of Souel, Korea. I have several pictures of the men in the out fit and the bombed out building and the area. Sgt Spiller retired in Blanco, Texas where he bought a club and a bar and died there. His wife is located in Austin, Texas.
