Comments: My father, JOE REVERS (Marvin P. Revers) died at 80 years of age on 24 AUG 2011, after fighting his last battle with cancer. I can't even begin to tell you how proud he was of being an original member of the GHQ 1st Raider Co. I am so proud of him for his service and sacrifice for his men and his country, words cannot express. He was the toughest man I have ever known. He is my hero!

He was of slight build, smart, able to get in and out of any locked area w/o keys. Claimed he was the only one of his ranger outfit dropped behind the lines to survive. He had been in WWII in the 82nd AB, I believe. Served 18 yrs. in Army. Had lots of bad flashbacks. He was a good guy and friend. Anyone with info on or about him, please contact me. Thanks.

Comments: My father was William (Bill) Joyner. He used to tell me about being with the Raiders in Korea. I saw the unit mentioned in the USASOC historians publication "Veritas" and contacted the historians office. As a result, I purchased John Connor's book and there was picture of my father and Mr. Connor at Chang-to. I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who knew my father or has pictures of him in Korea.
Thank you all for your service

THRUOUT S and N KOREA

The Raiders were established as a special patrol group that went behind enemy lines and disrupted activities. There was a 1st Raider Co. and later for a shorter while, a 2nd Raider Co.

The Raider Co. consisted of (9) ten man boat teams and staff (about 4
including an extra Lt.)

The 1st Co. Raiders landed at Kunsan on Sept 12th. 3 nights before Inchon. They are credited with saving untold lives at the Inchon Invasion because the NK took the bait and moved to Punsan with most of their available manpower.

About the extra Lt. Come to find out he was needed. You see Lt. Clance was lost on the first raid Dad had no idea what happened to him until you found out for us.

There is a bit of confusion about the Raiders as to the Rangers. The
Raiders did not jump.

They did have to swim 2 miles to get into the Raider Co. though. I will send you more info as I get it put together. I would love to hear from anyone else of the less than 200 men that were ever Raiders .
