I was assigned to Plans and Operations during my entire service, and was Head Clerk (E-4) when I left. During that entire time the Commanding Officer was Colonel John D. Martz, Jr., QMC*; he apparently left in the first half of 1953. In 1954 Col. Martz published a history of the Kokura-Jono operations, "Homeward Bound."** Perhaps Capt. Russell commanded the Field Operations Section or the Central Identification Unit in Jono. * I worked directly across the hall from Col.
