We picked up most of our equipment in Yokohama. The units were compossed from personnel form Signal units through-out Japan with majority coming from elements of the 72 Signal Service Bn. The units moved out(via train) in late June 1950 and by July 2 1950 the 8053 had established communications to serve the 8071 Army Unit/Sasebo Transportion Port Detachemnt and the 8068 Repl Depot which was locted out side of Sasebo at Camp Mower (formerly the used by 34 Inf Regt 24 Div which had shipped out week earlier to Korea). The 8053 also was charged with operation of the Radio Relay Site on the island of Tushima to provide communications (telephone/teletype) between Japan and Korea The 8052 went to work with the 8072 Pusan Transportation Port Detachment and 8969 Repl Depot. Both units were small about 40 members each We did what was expected and got the message through. Keywords: |
