REQUEST INFO ON MY FATHER - ACIE RAY |
| BRIAN RAY wrote on August 30, 2011 CITY AND STATE: MATTAWAN MI UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: I am trying to find any information about my father and his service in Korea. He was in Japan when the war broke out and we have no information about his unit, company etc. because like many other veterans, his personal records were lost in transit and his military records were destroyed in the same storage facility fire as many others. We know he was assigned in a tank unit but not much else. I have some photo's of him and the tanks as well as a tracked snow vehicle, but the pictures of him in uniform do not clearly show his unit emblem/patch. We have an envelope post marked June 16, 1951, about five months before being discharged, with the following address: Sgt. Acie E. Ray, 15378119 7.RCN.CO. APO 7 c/o P.M. Inter Island Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you, Brian Ray Keywords: |

IN PURSUIT OF MY DAD'S CIB |
| DAN CAFARO wrote on November 6, 2007 CITY AND STATE: DARNESTOWN MD UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: My dad, Joseph Cafaro, served in the Army from 1951-1953. He was stationed in Korea for 13 months and was part of the 7th Recon. Since he lost all his papers in a move (and the official records were lost in a fire in St. Louis), he never received his Combat Infantry Badge (CIB). This has always been a real sore spot for him. He has a copy of his discharge papers and various medals (good conduct, Korean service, United Nations service, National Defense service, etc.), but the Army Review Board has declined to send him the CIB. I saw mention on this site that members of his unit were awarded the CIB - is there any way you can help me confirm this, so he can get his hard-fought medal? Also, if you have any recollection of serving with him, etc., that would be great. He probably went as Joe or Joey from New Jersey. He's still alive and living in South Jersey.
