Comments: I am trying to help identify the remains of my brother who was missing in action near Taegu Korea on 6 September 1950. It was suggested that I post a message on his regimental website asking if there is anyone who remembers him and/or the circumstances surrounding his MIA status. He was declared dead in September 1953. His remains may be among the nearly 7000 that have been returned from Korea and are in Hawaii waiting for someone to help identify them.
If you have any knowledge of Corporal Nicholson or this incident, please contact me at terrynicholson@att.net.
I am sure your fallen commrade in arms will be "eternally" grateful.
Sincerely,
Terry Nicholson

My father Andrew, his brother, has no knowledge of the events that lead to his loss. At some point in 1951 or 1952 someone tried to reach him and give him some details, but unfortunately no connection was made. If anyone has any information that can help my father and our family understand what happend to my uncle we would be very grateful. He was outlived by his two brothers, 2 sisters and his mother who died at the age of 99 in Czechslovakia. Many thanks to those who read this and who have served and protected us.

Comments: For those of you that are trying to piece together some of your loved one's past - what the war was like for them - I highly recommend this book. My husband's friend, Medic, Freddie Wolf, served in the Korean War yielding him 100% disabled, and was declared as one of the most severely wounded soldiers to have lived. He died on Veteran's Day 2006. In his memory, our Pastor gave us a book that included an interview of our war hero and others: "BACK DOWN THE RIDGE," by W. L. White. Readers' Digest also has an article: "Back Down To The Ridge," February, 1953. Your loved one did not lay down their life in vain! When comes Eternity, you will be together again! Comments: I'm looking for anyone who served with my dad PFC Richard Stokes between 1950 & 1953. He passed away December 21, 2005 after a four year battle with colon cancer. I wish I would of found this site while he was still alive so he could have communicated with you himself. He thought of his old buddies often. He was very involved with Amvets & Sadsacks also. I was fortunate enough to make contact with three of his buddies families. I am hoping to find some of his friends still living. At least their families as well. Some of the names listed in keywords were household names as I grew up. Most of them I got from the back of my dad's pictures of his time in Korea.

Comments: I am posting this for my farther who served in Korea from july-oct. 1951. He was a member of george company 2nd battalion 7th regiment, 1st calvary, 4th platoon. He is looking for a book that had to be purchased. it was a black hard cover book that had the cav. patch of george company on it. It was a company book that have the names of the solders that served and the battles that they fought. He purchased the book but it got "lost" during a divorce. It has a great deal of sentimental value to him. He would be willing to purcase a book. He is 78 and in poor health any help would be appreciated.

Comments: My father, Richard A. Williams is a Korean War veteran and suffers from Parkinson's Disease. We are trying to piece together his military service record while we still can. The ribbons from my father's uniform shows he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, among others. We can find no citations, and the records from the Army do not show these two awards. Dad's memory is clearly fading. He mentions about being severely wounded on Dagmar Hill in December, 1951, regained consciousness in a field hospital before being transferred to a hospital in Pusan, then Sasebo, Japan then on to Hickam Air Force Base. Dad says that his Purple Heart was pinned to his pillow case when he regained consciousness and that his unit received the Bronze Star and therefore everyone in the unit received it. Can anyone help me please?

Comments: Comments: Thanks to old photos sent to me (I commanded Company K, 7th Cav, in 1951) by veterans of that unit, I have an online Gallery of now 47 pictures of men who served in Company K during its 18 months in combat. The gallery is part of a larger web tribute to the 7th Cav published in the West Point Alumni Journal.
The most recent 9 pictures are by troopers who were in the Heavy Machine Gun section of M Company, attached to Company K. Even includes pictures of Chinese Prisoners we captured (192 of them) Hill 347 October, 1951. The URL is http://oldcolo.com and go to 'War Story on the Menu.
Go to the bottom of the home page to click on the Gallery. If you recognize any of the men, send me email.

He was with H.Q. company second battalion 7th calvery. He passed away when I was 3 and I would love to know more about him. He never told mom much about his war expierance , exept that he was amazed at how intense the emotion of fear could be. We have a few pictures of him and some guys in the field I think dad may have been considered the old man, at the age of 27.

He was a POW, that was never held in an actual camp. He was drug from place to place with the Red Army. He remembers a man by the name of Kenneth Loessel. When he was recovered, he was injured and returned to duty in a different regiment. Any information, or someone that might be able to help him please contact me. He has started talking about the war after 50+ years, and is starting to relive it all over. He is really struggling right now, and needs closure to this. Please contact me by any of the above means.

Comments: I wish I new more about my grand father, as I know I have his blood running through my vines. He made his way through the Japanese islands to lead the first troops into Japan after the bombs had been dropped. He was a Calvary man all the way and could ride and jump a horse like no one else. In fact, he was asked to ride Emperor Herohito's white stallion while station in Japan. When the call came for Korea, he was right there ready to serve. He never spoke much about the war times, but he lost most of his friends in the Korean war and walk out with several medals including the silver star and a bronze star. He retired a Major and was one mean SOB with a rough Irish side that only a true NY born Irish could have. I only knew him as a child, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Comments: Hello to all of u and all those brave soldiers our country has. I am a student in Antilles High School at Ft. Buchanan, Puerto Rico, and I am doing a project about a soldier who went to the Vietnam War. I have to know how the soldier was drafted into war, how he got to the battle field, what he did(or she), if you killed any soldier up close to save your life, about POW( prisioners of war) and how did that person die. I am mostly interested in the battle of Ia Drang, the one shown in We Were Soldiers, because it shows a more real view of what a cold war is and I am very familiar with it. If any of you are interested in helping me with this project, please write to me to the email shown above. I will really appreciate it and so will my classmates. If you aren't interested, i will not take it against you because I know this is a very sad topic and many have lost loved ones there. Again, my email is dreamybabypr@yahoo.com so if any are interested I will love to know from any of you. Thank you so much for your time;I Josephine M. Centeno Catalá, Puerto Rico

I went to personnel took a typing test and transferred to Service Co. and spent the last year on my butt at a typewriter. My last contact from Bob was in Chicago. I have tried all I know how to locate him to no avail. I would like to talk to him and thank him before I depart this life. Thanks. Leroy

Only fourteen made it back. That morning the group made an amphibious landing off the Sea of Japan to begin their assault. In the hours to come, the men would see some intense fighting. Comments: Does anyone know of a battle that took place in June of 1951. My father has spoken of a battle that took place after a short cease fire broke down. The fighting lasted six days of fierce fighting. On the sixth day, there was less than 100 men from the 1st Battalion left standing. A Col. Bill Harris, who had a saddle mounted on the hood of his jeep, took them there were going back into the battle. A soldier pulled his 45, and the Col's. driver pushed the Col. in the jeep and sped off. This was the last time my father said he ever saw the Col. Also, there were two men walking down the road and stopped a jeep and told the driver that was all the transportation Co. C needed. If anyone could tell me more about this battle I would greatly appreciate it.

Comments: My father, Bennie Fleming Davis, recently passed away. He was a member of the 7th Cavalry. He was in the Korean War. He was stationed for a while in Japan, both before and after the war. I have heard rumors that his unit was overrun by the Chinese Communists and he was captured. When I was a little boy, my brothers and sisters and I would ask my father about his time in Korea, but he never spoke about it. I don't know what unit/regiment/batallion he was in, but if anyone served with him or knew him and the history of his military service, I would appreciate you contacting me. My brothers and sisters and I would like to learn more about that part of our father's life. Incidentally, he was also a member of the 7th Cavalry Association, and attended numerous banquets and award dinners around the country with my mother. I have submitted a Freedom Of Information request to the Army for all records pertaining to my father, but I am not expecting very much of substance. Thank you, and God Bless.
