Search for Clyde Terry |

 |
Donald Stewart wrote on 2002-06-04 04:37:05.0
Comments: Clyde Edwin Terry is my uncle and brother to Lorene Terry Stewart, my mother. Uncle Clyde served in the 7th Cavalry Regiment before, during, and after WWII, Korea and into the 60's. Clyde Terry retired from the U.S. Army in the mid 60s and very seldom shared his war experiences. We know at least three of his buddies were shot dead next to him in foxholes in WWII and Korea.
I would like any information about Clyde Terry or anyone who remembers Uncle Clyde. Especially desired is the unit and battles his unit fought. Clyde Terry served in the U. S. Army from 1938 to about 1964 and I know he was in the 7th Cavalry Regiment by the patch he wore on his uniform in family pictures. Most likely in one or more of the following units : 1st Squadron, 2nd Batallion, 3rd Squadron, 4th Batallion or 5th Squadron of the 7th Cavalry Regiment.
The Terry family had and may still have a large photo of his unit. I believe it was a squadron but I'm not sure. He was in the Pacific theater from New Guinea to the Phillipine campaigns then to Japan. Also he was in Korea from Inch'on north to the Yalu river then pushed back by the Chinese.

Comments: I am the grandaughter of Raymond J. Graves and I am looking for any information that anyone may have about him concerning the war. He died almost 3 months ago and I inherited his army jacket. I know he was awarded the bronze star, but we are unable to locate it.
He never talked about the war. All the information we have is stated above.
He is truly my hero and I want to find out as much as I can about hs experience in the war.
He has two posts further down the page but they hardly give information for me to go on.
Any help would be very appreciated. Please e mail me.
His Tina.

Took part in the breakout from Pusan and made the link up with the X corps. Never knew this until 1987 when I read an article on the breakout in History mag. Ask him when he got to korea and what he knew of the breakout said his company was part of the infantry support for the Tank unit. Anyone who served with him I would like to talk with, he is still living in Tennessee where he was from.

Comments: James A. Waters, Jr., was from Chicago, IL, and served with the 7th of the 1st Cav. from 1950-1953. He was in the worst of it, and during the battle for "Bloody Baldy" he was hit by mortar fire. The metal in his body he carried with him till his dying day.
We just buried my Dad and I'd like to find out or hear from any of his buddies or people who knew about his service record. I know he had a hard time and we only have a few stories to remember him by.
Write me at either: tamugin@earthlink.net
Or
jwaters@imsabp.com
Thanks,
Jim Waters

Comments: I'm looking for any information anyone might have on my great-uncle Cpl. Gene L. Owens. Gene was in the 7th Cav. Rgt. - 1st Cavalry Div. and originally served on the DMZ (guard duty) before the war broke out. He was wounded on Sunday, Aug. 13th 1950 and taken prisoner. I heard his holding camp was liberated, but I'm not sure how. I would love to talk to anyone who served with him and knew where and how he was wounded.
I was hoping anyone could let me know where I could search on the internet or at the library to find out more information on Gene and his unit. Does the Government have a web site that I can search?
I would appreciate any help on this matter. By the way, I am writing a book about the war and need this information.
Sincerely, Mike Owens

Comments: I'm looking for anyone that might have known or served with my great-uncle Cpl. Gene L. Owens. He originally spent two years on the DMZ and was in Tokyo ready to come home when North Korea invaded the south. Was in the First Cavalry Division, Amphibious Force. Also trained as a driver of landing "duck" boats. Gene was wounded on Sunday Aug. 13th 1950 - then taken prisoner, and POW camp was reportedly liberated.
