Comments: I am reading a chest full of my grandfathers letters to home and only getting started trying to find and piece any information together. He was Charles "Lindy" Deems, worked in the motor pool and was with the 1st Cav alot. If by a stroke of luck someone would know of him that would be fantastic, otherwise I will be back with more specific information as I read further. Thank you Veterans!

Comments: Hello..

My name is Eddie Reyes, and my grandfather Ernesto Rodriguez Lobo served with D Btry 78th AAA Gun Bn in 1951. Like most veterans, he did not provide many details about his service or time spent in the war. I would like any information about his battalion or anyone who may have known or served with him. He was called Home on September 14, 2004 and I would like to keep the memory of his sacrifice for our country alive. Any information is appreciated -- thank you in advance.

Keywords: My Dad, Daniel Bryan Smith, served with the 78th AAA Battery D from 1952 to 1954 and was in Korea. He had nicknames in his home of Pearl, Texas of "Boone" or sometimes went by Bryan. In later years in Dallas, he went by Dan. He tells stories of his ship breaking down from Washingto to Hawaii and floating adrift for several days. He passed away 3 years ago and I would love to hear stories of someone that new him in the service.

Comments: My sons and I are putting together a memorial display (pictures, patches, etc.) for my wife's father Elmer (Al) Reich who served in Korea during 52-53. I beleive he was a truck driver but also saw action. His recollection is that he was part of the Fourth Army. Can anyone give me some ideas about what patches I could buy for the display?

His recollection is that they jumped (was the unit airborne?) in to reinforce a Marine unit that was either surrounded or outnumbered. He also tells stories about after basic going to a ski resort in Washington state that was owned by one of his buddies in basic prior to shipping out.

Anyone recall Al Reich from Chicago?

Comments: Please note, I have changed my e-mail address to Jsapp73@earthlink.net. My Dad served in Korea from Jan. 52 to May 53. Dad was with Battery A. He recently told me a story about the time they moved his gun up toward the front lines to shell NK bunkers across the Han river. His gun and gun crew, a 50 cal. crew and a mess crew. For about 2 weeks. Talked about a NK gun that started lobbing shells toward their position. After a shell hit about 200 yards away, the next two shells hit at the same point. Lucky for everyone that the NK gun was at max range. First time I heard this story. Hope someone from Dad's unit reads this and contacts me. He is interested in contacting his Comrades from his time in Korea. Thank You!!

My Dad is getting together more information concerning his time in Korea. He came ashore at Inchon and was stationed near an Air Force Base near the Han River. At first I thought the AFB was Kimpo, but some of my research would indicate his unit was near Suwon AFB. If anyone served with my Dad, he and I would like to hear from you. Thank You.

Chaplain and I travelled & held services and did counseling on occasions way up north. (I have had 3 light strokes, and have forgotten a lot of details...not to mention I will be a young 75 yrs old, was born in E.St. Louis, Illinois 12-25-28) Served with Chaplain Leighton Harrell, and another was Chaplain Adams. I play the piano and remember while still in Inchon playing for the officers to dance with The nurses who came to our camp while still in Inchon. They were off a hospital ship like the "Hope" or another one. Not sure of name of the ship. Colonel Grandon was our commander while in Inchon before moving to Suwon. My closest friend while at the camp in Inchon was Dotson (cannot recall his first name) Mollee was one of the Korean girls who worked in the dining hall. If anyone can recall the two fellows from Olney, Illinois...sure would appreciate hearing about them.

He related to me some of the efforts of the AAA Bn in support ofthe ROK & how they re-wote the 90mm"Gun Book" out to 19500 yards, about a shoot where they demolished a building full of ememy generals. Said that the AAA Bn could put 300 rounds in the air beforew the first one hit the ground.

May have gone by the nickname of Bro. I read an article in the 78th AAA Gun Battalion Reunion Times written by John R. Smith. Mr Smith was on Attu in the 40's and maybe knows something about my dad. I would like for John to write back and let me know his address or e-mail. Maybe he knows something about my dad. Any information would help. I have some pictures of my dads time on the Islands and would be willing to share copies with those who were there. I can be contacted at my e-mail address gamboas@sbcglobal.net or at my home address of 2448 Wayfarer Court Discovery Bay CA 94514.

I will prepare an affidavit for your signature and notification and it will be filed with Marvin's VA claim. Thanks for any assistance.

He has had some weak moments and told me some of his stories, but anyone that might remember any other stories concerning him and his running mates, I would certainly love to hear about. Comments: My father, Russell S. Parsons, served in Korea from 1951-1953. At first he was in infantry and later on he was with Brty D 78th AAA Gun Bn. He was 18 at the time he enlisted. If anyone remembers him please contact me. I am trying to get his discharge changed to a Purple Heart before he dies. The scars on his shoulder back and leg do not count. I mean, they cannot be considered proof. He was hit by scrapnel. He was at the gun, others managed to jump off the truck but, the man driving was killed at the time they came under attack. Dad was taken to a field hospital for a few days and then sent back to the front. The paperwork didn't follow him (?) and he went home a short time (months at most) later. If he was hand carrying any documents they vanished when his bag was stolen at port stateside. From Port he went to Camp Breckenridge, KY were he was given an Honorable Discharge. I need some one who saw him wounded, transported to the field hospital, or recovering from the wounds to write a letter for him. Dad's memory is going because of fluid on his brain. He may undergo surgury soon. Thank you.

Dear Sir,

I am trying to locate men who served in the 78th AAA Gun Battalion
Battery A.

My father, Capt. Robert (Bob) W. Hemenway was the battery
commander at the time of his death. He left for Korea in Feb.1953.
I was born May 1953, and he was killed June 1953. I never knew
him, but I have been trying to find out about his life in Korea,
especially the last 10 days. It seems he wrote my mom everyday until
June 14, 1953. Suddenly the letters stopped, and then came the telegram
advising us of dad's death.

Anyone who served under him, please contact me. I know the
circumstances of his death and have read the reports. I just need
the truth. Mom is 78 and dying of bone cancer, she deserves to
know the whole truth about the last 10 days and what really
happened. Only these men will know.

Several men I have names for: Lt. Col. Earl Gooding, Lt. Stephens,
Lt.Hazel, Sgt. or maybe Lt. Squarles.

Please help me with this.

of the 78thAAA. I served in Korea as a member of D Battery 78thAAA Gun
Btn. from Sept. 1950 until Oct. 1950. Although I did not know her
father, I have been able to put her in touch with some former members
of the 78th. who may be able to know the circumstances of her fathers
death.

We have had 5 reunions with formembers of the 78th. The last one was
held this past October in Minneapolis. There were about 120 members at
this reunion. I know Pam has been in touch with you, she also told me
to write to you.

Can you give me any information or E mail address, so I can contact
the National Personell center in St. Louis, Mo. I would like to get a
morning reports of two outfits that I served in.

Thank you for your time and help,

Sincerely Arthur
