Comments: Seeking any buddies who served at the foot of Mt. Fuji during the Korean Conflict from 52-55. I was a gunner and hung with George Washington, Billy Joe Dawson, and Robinson. You all would tell me Henry you are still wet behind the ears because I was the youngest. I learned so much from you experienced vets and I just want to say thank you and I hope to see or talk to any of you who are still around.

1950. Internet sources indicate he was with Battery C
77th Field Artillery, 1st Cav. Div. and was Killed in
Action on September 27, 1950. He is my children's
Great Uncle on their mom's side. If anyone knows where
I can get copies of After Action Reports for that unit

Comments: My Brother PFC Richard E(Gene)James was assigned to B Btry 77th FA Bn.7th Cav.Regt.1st Cav.Div.around Dec, 1949,at Camp Drew,Japan,17 yrs old.

PC James landed in Korea with the Division around 18 Jul.50 as a Gun crewman, until his 18th B-Day and then assigned to B-Btry F.O. Team.

The Team had went through hell together until around 20-31 January 1951,after the Team was assigned to the Greek Expn.Force(UN CMD).

While carring the equipment, and being on a O.P. for over 18 hrs were retreating south due to a N.Korean counter attack about 3am in the morning, the Jeep Driver fell asleep
and went in to the ditch and flipped over, pinning Lt Bush under the jeep.

My brother and the 2 others lifted the jeep up enough to get the LT out, but my brother was in pain, he had broken his upper arm.

He was rushed to a aid station to the rear and then to a Swedish Hospital,American doctors wanted to operate, but a Swedish doctor said no,my brother was put asleep and woke up in pain and his upper body was in a cast, the next day he was evac to the the states and was in a Army Hospital for 222 day befor returning to duty in the States, and later shipped to Germany and was Honorably discharged on 23 April 1953,20 yrs old.

Many thanks to all who have served our GREAT NATION

I tryed to get the Purple Heart for him but it was disapproved,2 Aug 2011,my brother just turned 79 yrs Young.

DOES any one remember the Accident,if so please
contact me through my E-Mail address

Thank You

Around the 1st of the year with the help from all the Great People I listed above, I Submitted my request for my brother's Correction of Military Records and request for The Purple Heart and The Bronze Star, with Info from LTC Bush,(brother's OIC in 1951)and through Senator Brown's Office, who forwarded it to the Army's review Board, and I'm told it might take a while but I just wanted to thank the People who made it possible for my Brother and Me to get this far with the request, and like my brother stated, even if he does not get the Medals,He knows the people who means the most to him in life, knows just what happened to him early in his young life and they are the ones he cares about and what they think of Him as A Husband, Father,Brother,Grandpa and Great Grandpa is what counts the most to him.

I remember SFC John Hickey, whose message is above but no email address. He was in Fire Direction, then Field First Sgt; a tall, handsome fellow, with a good
head on his shoulders and as easy going as circumstances permitted.

Lt. Robert White, a West Pointer, was my favorite all-time officer. He pulled much extra duty as FO and
managed to beat the two days average life span for Forward Observers. I recall Sgt. Mangrum's explanation for being awarded a Silver Star: " I was the only one with a dime for the Coke machine!" Actually, he was in enemy territory, crouched behind a rock wall and batting Chinese soldiers in the head with an entrenching tool, as they jumped over the wall.

Darrel Ivy, from Sgt. Arnold Naum's No. 1 gun crew, attended my wedding and Robert Barr and I ran into
each other in Mississippi but, I haven't heard from
anyone else since we were in Korea, then Hokkiado, Japan.

Blessings and Best Wishes to All,

Gordon Crump

Comments: My husband William S. Tawes will kill in action October 5, 1950. I have some pictures but very little information concerning details of his army life. Most of his things were lost in a flood. Could you tell me where I could get further information. Anything you can tell me, I would appreciate so very much.
Lucille (Tawes) Peterson.

Comments: Looking for any and all information regarding my Dad. I'm told by the National Personnels Record Center, he was assigned to the 77th FA Btry, APO 174. I have an original Armed Forces Liberty Pass with the 77th FA Btry under "organization" and under "Base" it has Cp McCauley dated 16/12/51.

The National Personnels Record Center was only able to send me a copy of "Report of Separation from the Armed Forces of the U.S.(they stated that my dad received the Good Conduct Award and the Army of Occupation (Germany) Foreign Service Award). The National Archives and Records Administration didn't have much more than the Separation form also on my dad.

Is there any where else to go to get information as to "where" exactly he was stationed. I have a sister in that was born in Linz, Austria by my dad and her mother. I don't know if this "clue" helps as to where he was stationed (we know where he met Manuelita's (sister)mom (Linz).

If anyone knows where I can go to get this info., or a phone #, or an address. Please contact me.

Thanks.

Cris Leary and George Balarin (brother)

Comments: My father is the nephew of Hobert E. Meadows who
was killed in action during this war. He was
named after this uncle and has recently become
interested in finding out more about him. This
site was a nice one to show him and I sincerely
hope it will be helpful to other family members.
Thanks for all your effort.
