77TH ENGINEER COMBAT CO. |
| RON TULLY wrote on August 27, 2011 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: OTHER Comments: Lt. Col. Charles Bussey, USA(Ret) writes in his book Firefight at Yechon: Courage & Racism in the Korean War,"the 77th ECC was a seperate all-black company assigned to the 25th Inf Div to provide black engineer support for the black 24th Inf Regt (of the 25th Inf Div). It was not a part of the white 65th Engineer Battalion, which provided engineer support for the rest of the division". Then-Capt. Bussey assumed command of the 77th ECC in May 1950 in Japan and took the Company to Korea in early July 1950. Keywords: 77th Engineer Combat Co. |

| RICHARD HYMEL wrote on January 27, 2001 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: PHOTO My father-in-law (center). Name: John Duffau. Don't know the other 2 fellows, but know the one on the left was a boxer (in the Army?). John passed away last August. I'll be getting all his old Korean photos together and post them later at Photopoint and link them here. I know he was in the Army Engineers, either construction or heavy equipment, but don't know which unit. Keywords: photo John Duffau |
