Comments: I am searching for photos, drawings and information on a boxcar called "Roving Sally," used by CID Agents attached to 3rd TMRS, Korea during 53-54. Any assistance is appreciated. It is my understanding the car was moved from place to place in theft suppression activities.

He often wrote about Sgt Martin, Cpl. Blake, Sgt May, Cpl Behrendt, Cpl Weckerle.Wilbert was enlisted reserves. He served in Oisong, Andong, Tanyang, Wonju and Yong=Dong-Po when he came home.He was guarding prisoners from Wonju to Pusan on the trains for a while. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who served with him, either by e-mail or mail. We had almost 41 wonderful years together. I now get to say THANK YOU to all our veterans each day at the Houston, Texas VA Hospital where I am the Am. Leg. Aux. Representative. Thanks to all of YOU for giving me my freedom.

Comments: Mr. Choi, Eun Hwa (last named prounounced "Che" or "Choy" depending on who is speaking) was the interpretor for the 772 MP Bn prior to and during the war. He is now a benefactor assisting in the recognition of Korean War Veterans. He and I spoke the other day and he is extremely interested in meeting two people. He calls them "Major Belke" (Major in 52) (later became an MP Batallion Commander in Europe in 56). Also "Captian Kling" -- whom he says was also in a MP school of some sort in Philadelphia around 1956. He believes he was a Lieutenant Colonel at that time. Captan Kling drove to DC and escorted Mr. Choi around the city sight seeing while Mr. Choi was there. Thanks

Comments: As a Military Police unit the 772nd MP Bn. was unique. In the Xth Corps area following the Hamhung-Hungnam evacuation of December 1950, Company "A" of the 772nd was strung out as individual Platoons from Yongchon to Uisong and Andong patrolling the Green Diamond Main Supply Route. (MSR.) Three North Korean Divisions were operating behind United Nations lines in Korea with the North Korean 10th Division operating in the US Army Xth Corps area upwards to 90 miles behind our front lines, conducting interdiction of the MSR through ambushes and interdicting the rail lines with ambushes and blowing the tracks with demolitions and generally harrassing the combat support and combat service support units keeping the warfighters supplied. It fell to the 772nd MP Bn and especially Companies "A" and "C" to engage these North Koreans. It was our good fortune at Yongchon to have the 1st US Marine Division conducting company sized motorized combat patrols in our area concurrent with our own zone reconnaissance patrols. Some of their men were captured and mutilated badly and that is one of the UN War Crimes that is documented. Company "A" lost several men to combat actions against the North Korean 10th Division. During the Chinese Spring Offensive in May 1951 a flight of Navy/Marine Corsairs overflew us while we were conducting a point reconnaissance outpost operation in a valley 42 miles Northeast of our Company "A" at Wonju. Had it not been for the quick thinking of Staff Sergeant Salcido who pushed and shoved us off of the Armored Car at the intersection the Corsairs would have taken us out with an airstrike after they went up into the clouds and made that famous figure eight turn. They thought we were Chinese until Salcido got us off of the white star on the vehicle (air-ground recognition)so they could see it. Shortly after that the South Korean Division that had run away from the front lines exposing the flanks of the Marines and 2nd Infantry Division came over the mountains like an ant hill had been kicked over with Nurses in front seeking food and the road to Pusan. As a two war Infantryman who also served with Company "A" of the 772nd Military Police from January to July 1951 I have to say the 772nd Military Police should always walk with their heads high and be proud of the splendid job they accomplished in Korea while operating as a very understrength Battalion. The Army Reserve Military Police who came on active duty to assist the regular Army MP's of the "deuce," performed as the professionals they were. The problems with guerrillas noted in the areas between the line of departure from Kuwait and the various Infantry Division rear during the war in Iraq could have been eliminated with a unit like the 772nd patrolling the MSR's, ready to fight, to keep them open. Well done, MP's.
