Joseph Thomas Krieger (1932-2003). He was born and raised in New Albany, Indiana. In 1948, he joined the U. S. Army at age 16, and took his basic training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He spent a little over 26 years in the U. S. Army and retired in 1973 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. According to an outline which he wrote out before his death in 2003, he listed that he served in Korea from July of 1950 to November of 1951. I have some photos of him when he served in Korea. There is a possibility that he was a staff Sgt. during his time in Korea, but I'm not for sure. An insignia on his army uniform appears to show 73rd Armored Division. He was wounded and returned to the United States. I would like to confirm if the 73rd was the division which he served in. He was with the 185th Engineer Battalion for 1-2 months. He was then assigned to the 73rd Engineer Battalion for his remaining time in Korea. He was the company clerk ( c - company )while with the 73rd. The company commander was Lt. Charles Nelson. He remembers serving with Mr. Avitable and Mr. Accardi. He also remembers a Captain Buckley in the 185th.
