| NICK PANICO JR. wrote on December 7, 2011 CITY AND STATE: DOUGLASVILLE GA UNIT: 707TH MAINT BN 7TH INF DIV SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: ARMY VETERAN Comments: VA claim for AO denied twice in 2011 because this support unit is not specifically listed with the VA for exposure to Agent Orange in Korea. Just retained a lawyer who told me to reach out to as many others who served with me in the 707th MaintBn at Camp Casey, Korea in 1969. The point is it now up to us to prove that we were exposed during our truck runs to fix equipment in the vicinity of the DMZ and to go out in the field for extended periods (drink water, sleep on soil, etc).I was trained at Red Stone Arsenal in Alabama for RADAR and was sent to Camp Casey from April 1969 to June 1969 by mistake while the rest of soldiers I trained with were sent to Camp Red Cloud. After 3 months I was transferred to join the others at Red Cloud. All these years later, I am very sick with Diabetes II, retinopathy, neuropathy, high blood pressure, and take insulin and be very careful to avoid stressing myself. I am now 65 years old. I did contact another veteran from this site who confirmed my memories of being in the field and also going up to Camp Alamo by truck to repair equipment, right beside the DMZ. Now I remember why I always said It was like going to the Alamo. All my doctors including the VA doctors affirm my medical condition, and I need to reach out to you who were there with me to prove that our AO disability was caused by direct exposure to this toxin by our work with supporting units out in the field in and near the DMZ. My name is Nick and please call me at 770-920-1091 or email at sherylpanico@bellsouth.net. Keywords: Camp Casey Camp Alamo DMZ Agent Orange KOREA 1969 Hq&CoA707thMaintBn7thInfDiv |

IN 707 FOR ADMINISTRATION, I WORKED FOR THE DIVISION ORDNANCE OFFICER |
| NORMAN ROBERTS wrote on October 15, 2008 CITY AND STATE: CA UNIT: 707 ORDNANCE MAINTRENANCE COMPANY, 7TH DIVISION SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: ARMY VETERAN Comments: My service with 707 was from June 1951 through April, 1952. We got combat time--9 months. I never was promoted to sergeant. I think the reason was an IG inspection questioning how our little unit handled classified documents--up to secret. I gave the officer a "by the book answer." He left--no problem, until he returned with the company commander. The IG then said, and I quote "Tell Captain---how he should take care of classified documents." I think that put me on the wrong side of the captain and the first sergeant--any promotion papers for me got lost. All of the enlisted personnel in 707 were great--the officers were there because they couldn't do any harm in ordnance. If anyone there with me is still alive--we are all 80 or so--remind me of who you are. Keywords: My partner was Jin Freshour, the most versatile and competent person I ever met. SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: - Comments: I can only remember Dave Crum Gene Drake and Floyd both cooks. I went home for discharge in April 1950, but was called back in October 1950 I asked for the 707 Ord. When I arrived in Pusan I was put in the 1st Cavalry because they had so many casulties. I wound up in Co. C 5th Cav. Regt. I did get over to the 707 Ord. Co. one time in May 1951, but I did not see anyone I knew. Keywords: |
