Comments: My service with 707 was from June 1951 through April, 1952. We got combat time--9 months. I never was promoted to sergeant. I think the reason was an IG inspection questioning how our little unit handled classified documents--up to secret. I gave the officer a "by the book answer." He left--no problem, until he returned with the company commander. The IG then said, and I quote "Tell Captain---how he should take care of classified documents." I think that put me on the wrong side of the captain and the first sergeant--any promotion papers for me got lost. All of the enlisted personnel in 707 were great--the officers were there because they couldn't do any harm in ordnance. If anyone there with me is still alive--we are all 80 or so--remind me of who you are.
Keywords: My partner was Jin Freshour, the most versatile and competent person I ever met. The company C.O., for a while was Raymond Dent. The ass't ordnance officer was Major Naile, a colorful person. Ordnance officer, if I remember correctly, was Colonel Marker.

Comments: I'm looking for anyone who knew my Dad, SFC Charles Wm. Cole from Graham, Alabama in the 707th Ordnance Bn. in Korea 1953-54. He's 80 now and loves to tell stories about his friends from Camp Casey and travelling around rebuilding small arms and artillery.
Also, anyone who knew my Uncle, 2LT James Lee Thompson Jr. from Heflin, Alabama who was the forward observer for A battery, 52nd FA BN in Task Force Smith. He was killed in action 5 July 1950 in Osan and his body recovered in 1952. His unit suffered almost 50% casualties at Osan but I have photos of many members of the unit before they were deployed, most of them surely killed shortly afterward. I'd love to have someone identify these HEROES and get copies to their families.

Comments: I am inquiring about a visit to the 707th Ordnance Bn by General Paul W. Caraway in Korea in 1956. Gen Caraway was the CO of the 7th ID at the time. I was part of a group of 8 that the general conducted a personnel and equipment inspection at the 17th Infantry at Camp Kaiser. There is a interesting story to tell about that particular inspection. I noticed on a web search that a Kostas A. Kostamolas had experienced an inspection by Gen Caraway while he was in Korea. By hitting on his search it took me to this site of which I'm a member. At this point I'm at a dead end on the subject. If Mr Kostamolas reads this, get in touch with me at carlw@islc.net....I would appreciate it.

Comments: Hello, I am writing this for Carson CRAIG who is unable to find proof of service due to a fire that destroyed the records in Kansas City. I hope someone can help me find the way to get proof since he is fighting with the V.A. over it. Carson CRAIG served with the 707 Ordnance; Maintenance division during the war. He was born October 13 1932 and enlisted Oct 17, 1949. His boot camp was Ft. Knox and he was discharged at Ft. Custer in Michigan. Evidently his mother through his discharge away by accident. The 707 was with the 7th division. If anyone can help us find proof of his service please help since he will be denied any help until then. Thank You Roberta Whitacre

Comments: While guarding POWs on Koje-Do I was thrown from the back of the guard truck and landed on my back. The sgt. in charge told me to report to the Aid Station which I did. I never gave it much thought until I tried applying for a disability from the VA. It seems that no record of this incident was found. I have tried to contact aanyone that remembered me going to the Aid Station. Would also like to make contact with the Medic in charge at the time.

Researhing any links to the 7th 707 Ordnance in 1951 Korea. My father,
Idus Robert Hughes, Sr. was a black soilder who helped set up the
Direct Exchange Set in the maintenance ord which supplied parts for all
army vechicles.
He was under General Smith, and Colonel Deluth. He came from Palatka,
Fla to basic training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina on to Camp Drake
headquarters in Japan under the 8013 Unit, 8080 Ord, later transferred
to Korea 7th, 707 Ord. He left later under Operation Santa Claus.
I am working on a genealogy project for our family and would love to
have some history to include for future generations.
