Comments: I went "on the hill" across from Papasan in Kumwha on Thanksgiving Day, 1952 as a Forward Observer, moved to Chorwon then Munsan-ni. Transferred to the 69th FA Air Section in April 1953 and had most or all of my 89 air observer missions in the Munsan-ni area that included Pork Chop Hill air observer support with Lt. DuBois. Ed Halstead and Bill ________ were also pilots. Good friend 1st Lt. Jack Lavinder was KIA just 3 days before the truce was signed in 1953. Would like to hear from anyone who remembers Able Battery, 69th FA Bn from November 1952 - Aug 1953.

Comments: My daddy was Charles N. Crenshaw, Jr. He died on October 14th, 2006. He served in Korea from August, 1951 to June, 1952 as the Operation Sargeant for the batallion. I loved sitting at his feet and listening to the stories he told about Korea and have since his death been able to read the letters he wrote to my mother. He was looking for a gentleman by the name of Weldon T. LaBlanc from New Iberia, La. If anyone else remembers my daddy from that time, please don't hesitate me contact me as I would love to hear from anyone who knew him at that time.

Thanks,

Jan Crenshaw Frady

Betsy Hatter wrote on 2003-04-08 03:07:18.0

Comments: All I know is from an article I found, and some bits and pieces from growing up. Arvis was a Cpl. in the Army and enlisted apx. 1946, after basic he spent 13 months in the Army of occupation in Korea. Then spent a year in Japan where he worked in an office as a battery clerk for his outfit. At one time he recieved orders to return to the states on June 8, 1950, but was recinded with the outbreak of the Korean War. He returned to action with the 25th Artillery Division, in a letter home he told his parents he was in action with the large 155m.m. artillery. His MIA date was August 12, 1950,after spending 17 months on the missing list he was pronounced KIA , the death date agreed with the missing date. Since I never knew him I am eager to learn if there is anyone out there that remembers him or knew him while he was serving his country.

Keywords: I was a 2nd Lt. When Lt. Centi was hit, I took his place. I am looking for my FO crew, namely Sgt. Bohler, Pfc. Peck, Cpl. McDonnough. I do not know if this spelling is correct. It is probably not. I have been in contact with two other people that I served with after my duty as a FO. Was assigned to HQ Btry, became BN communications officer, then Assistant S-3, working in Fire direction center (FDC). Lt. Thomas Drumwright, and Major (now COL, Ret) Max Talbot.

I would be interested in visiting with anyone that knows me from those Korean War Days.

I am a life member of the 25th Infantry Division Association. Their annual reunions are great, and the highlight of our year for the past five years.
