We met at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. He was a volunteer from New Jersey in 1949. B Battery, 68th AAA Gun Bn. We reconnected in Pusan in Feb 1951. We moved to Inchon to the Triangle Central Front Supporting I Corp. I was wounded and discharged from the Army. William's last known address was in New Jersey. He would now be about 80 years old. Visited C Bty on several occasions, managed to get a decent meal (we lived out of cans, basically) and met a number of great guys. Going thru some old photos today found one of three C Battery guys enjoying a beer with us at the Australian camp - their names are ROSEN (no first name known); Keith SCHUMACKER, George DYER. Best wishes from down under to any of them still around, and to all other members of the 68th. You were a fine unit, and we were honoured to be alongside you. Les Long, formerly of D Battery and his wife Elaine were our hosts and did a wonderful job of putting things together. We have an active group who attend these reunions and if you are not attending, you're missing out on some good times. Next year, in October, 2004, we will gather in Midland, Texas. Exact dates are yet to be determined. And thinking ahead, we will all get together in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2005. Plan on making one or both of these reunions. Cliff Schiesinger (formerly a Headquarters Battery member) lives in Midland and will be our host in 2004. I served in Germany from '68 to '71 in the 1st Battalion 68th Artillery and our unit crest was Lolamy. Seeing as how this is the 68th AAA, I'm thinking there must be a connection and the unit was reorganized at some point in time after Korea. (My dad served in the 300th FA in Korea). Arrived in Korea January 1953 on USNS General William Weigel from San Francisco, CA with a stop in Japan to pick up our winter clothing and zero in our M1 rifle. Departed Korea on the USNS Gordon for Seattle, WA May 1954. Served as a gate guard at Battalion HQ. for a month. Was the information and education NCO for the last six months of my tour. Sometime while in the Battery a group of us made the climb to the summit of a moutain to the west of us that every knew as the Witche's Tit. Really enjoy the reunions. Keywords:
