He received a Bronze Star Medal with Letter V for heroic achievement. My fathers army (uniform) pictures and medal were lost following a burglary. I dont know how long my father was in Korea but know that he was there in August 1952, the day referenced in regard to the Bronze Star medal. Please contact me if you have pictures of Sergeant Enrique Zabala Soto. I would really appreciate being able to once again have pictures of my father in his uniform. I was in the trenches on this day and have never discussed this with anyone and would like to bring back this day...As it was the war was over at 10:00 AM, but the shooting did not stop until 10:00PM. Both sides was firing all heavy artility and mortars that was available. we received more incoming in this 12Hr period then any other time in the war. Ihave never read anything about this 12Hr period.. At 10:00Pm the firing stopped and all the lights of north korea were turned on..The lights were a whole lot closer to us then we ever realized. It is such a loss the the last 12Hrs KIA and wounded. My best buddy was hit pretty bad and I took him to the medical unit for treatment. He was a litter truck medic driver that received a bronze star with V for valor for rescuing 2 men from the front lines and taken to the medic station. He did know one of the young men lose his limbs. He does'nt know these mens names but has always wondered if these men lived. I/we are looking for Veterens who served in Company F of the now great 65th regiment. i have been fighting for 8 years for my dad's proper credit and honor. i hve made some progress but have far to go. i am trying to get my dad his honor and proper respect while he is still with me. we are all aware of the prejudices and racism that existed, we are also aware of the lost records of many veterans due to the fire in the records building in the 70's. my dad has been denied many honors and medals i have been able to get him several of them, but i am ultimately seeking to get him his purple heart which he was overlooked and thus denied becasue of this same racism, etc. We are also looking for Freddy morales who was with Company C of the 65th, He is a frined of my dad who my dad still cries for to this day in search of him who mysteriously disapeared in action , despite reuesting immediate info during the war no valid explanation was ever given to my dad. He suffers from severe PTSD amongst other ailments. If there is anyone out there that has any info or knowledge. It wouldbe greatly appreciated.

I would like to know if there is anyone who remembers the crossing of the Imjin River by the 2nd Bn. of the 65th Inf. Regiment many puertoricans were killed in that battle when the chinese openned a Dam and the water covered the bridges we were crossing thus killing a lot of members of the 65th. He died on March 19, 2008 waiting for that SOMEONE who knew him,who was there in Korea with him and could testify of his heroism. He was ONLY given the Silver Star because of prejudice and descrimination against Latinos and African-Americans. ONLY one person recognized my father for his heroism, Brigadier General William W. Harris who wrote in his book, "Puerto Rico's Fighting 65th U.S. Infantry, From San Juan to Chorwan" , page 131, and had the honor to pin the Silver Star on my Dad. My father was even given a Presidental Citation from the President of Korea at the time, Sigmund Rhee, but not even that helped with getting the Congressional Medal of Honor. Please, if you are still alive, I need your help to testify for my father's heroism so he can get that Honor and Medal that he very well earned and DESERVES. I wrote to the Inspector General of the Army and he said the case was "closed". Senator K. Hutchinson was supposed to help us, but "they" wrote back twice with no news. The Congressman of Lewisville, Texas "passed the buck" too. I just don't know who to turn to next. NOW DO YOU KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT THE FORGOTTEN WAR? Because NO ONE cares after all these men exposed their lives to fight and keep America Free. In the aftermath, I have aquired his discharge papers. These papers answered questions that he would never talk about when I was growing up. I am looking for any Korean War veteran who knew my dad. He served from Sept. of '51 to May of '53. I know that he lost at least one very close friend who died in his arms in combat. (This I learned from my mother years ago.) I just found out for the first time in my life that he was awarded 2 bronze stars, a combat infantryman bandge, and 2 other decorations.
