Comments: To Whom It May Concern, I am the current Company Commander of the 629th Medical Company (Area Support), formerly known as a Medical Clearing Company. In researching the history of this company I came across this page and realized that there are many people out there with a close historical connection to this still proud and distinguished company. I have been maintaining a web page about the 629th MCAS and would like permission to add you to the monthly news letter.
As the commander I feel that it is important for todays Soldiers to understand the proud history that they come from.
The page address is www.629PITBULLS.com
Please let me know if you would like to be added to the monthly news letter
Sincerely, Eric T. Corbett CPT, MS Commander 629 Medical Company (Area Support)

Comments: My father, known as Don or Donald rather than his real name of Alfred, died over 10 years ago. I just came across the name of the unit with which he served and wondered if anyone remembers serving with him? He was in Korea for 17 months. He said they were stationed so high up in the mountains that looking down at the river it looked like a stream. He mainly drove a jeep, but that's about all I know. Any other information would be so much appreciated.

Comments: I just learned from my father, John Sarlo, who is a Korean War veteran, late '53-early'55, that my Uncle Tony earned 2 Bronze Stars. I knew that he served during the war and engaged in combat, but I never knew much else about his time in the service. He actually died 8 years before I was born and the family never talks about him much. I am not even sure what I am looking for here, but I thought that I would post. Does anyone know my uncle? Antonio Sarlo, Waterbury CT? Please help.
Christopher Sarlo

Comments: My father was Joseph A. Fusco a medical tech from Ellwood City PA. I have recently discover some pictures of the medical clearing company and also no one that I can identify. My father passed away 10 years ago and discovering this film was a window into part of his life that he would not talk much about. I was wondering if anyone could help me with information or identifying any people in the pictures. At this point I am having the pictures transfered to disc so I will be able to down load them in a few days. Thank you so much for your help. Wendy Fusco Barth

Comments: W@hen I first arrived at the third platoon the MO was 1st Lieutenant Albert Fountain. He rotated out and our new MO was 1st Lieutenant Francis X Clapp. Also attached to our unit was a dental lab under the leadership of1st Lt. Peter Sciullo. I was the medical lab tech for the unit but did surgical and medical duties as well. My rank was corporal. I would appreciate any correspondence from members of the unit that served from Aug '52 to July '53.

Comments: My Father was with 629th Med Co (CLR) in Bad Kreuznach, Germany in 1966; he says the whole unit was transferred to Ft. California (now Ft. Ord) in 1968. Does anyone have knowledge of this unit and time frame? I am looking for their unit patch and information on what division, battalion or command they fell under. If anyone can help please let me know. Also, my father mentioned "the 7 steps to hell" IRT their unit patch. Any ideas or thoughts? Please contact me at robert.d.mckim@tac01.usace.army.mil OR robert.mckim@us.army.mil. I'll be in Iraq for a few more months and I am trying to put a project together for my father when I return. Thank you for you time and any assistance. Robert Jr.

Comments: I was attached to the 629 MCC as a member of the 1st Mobile Army Field Lab, which was a detachment of the 8th Army with headquarters in Taegu. While not a 629 member I served in the same compound from January 1952 to November of 1952 and many of my good friends were attached to the 629. As I recall the First Sgt. of the 629 was Earl Snyder from Missouri, and his assistant was a Sgt Bortz from Detroit. This is a quick post and can probably come up with more in time. Dick Daly
