| CARL CRAIG wrote on September 10, 2005 CITY AND STATE: CENTRALIA WA UNIT: 618TH MEDICAL CLEARING COMPANY SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: ARMY VETERAN Comments: I was one of two Segeants who joined the 618th in Wonsan as replacements in early December.By the time we found the Company, the Chinese had effectively isolated the forces in Wonsan. After a couple of days, we left Wonsan for Hamhung along with the 3rd Armour Division. After about sixteen hours (I think) we arrived at an unpaved aifield (Yon-po?)and immediately established a medical facility. Before the first tent was up, a long line of ambulances arrived; there would be many more before we left just ahead of the Chinese. The 100s of casualties were triaged, cleaned up, and fed and loaded on planes. Keywords: North Korea, December 1950 |
