I have his pictures, was given his flag 30 years after his death. I'm trying to get copies of his medals from both wars. Would like to hear from anyone who may have known him.

Driving a quarter-ton vehicle in a convoy halted by enemy road block... volunteered to drive his vehicle through enemy fire to remove wounded soldiers... repeated his trip many times... PLEASE tell me something about what happened to him out there... he was my grandfather... he passed away last summer and we only know this one story because we have the newspaper clipping... he never told us anymore! I remember how happy he was to be sent for addional training at Camp Carson Colo. When he was sent home for a brief furlough, he was so happy explaining all the new training he had received. He was sent to Korea and there he did his duty. He was my twin and I shall hold many fine memories as we were growing up. Thank You

Comments: I am looking for any one who knew Sergeant Robert L. Besemer, or nay information on him. I did not know Robert but he was my uncle. I'm doing this search for my mom. He was her youngest brother. Robert was born Oct. 22, 1928. He enlisted into the Army in 1947 or 48. All we have is that Gen. Walker, the Eighth Army commander, rushed the 25th. infantry and 1st. Cavalry Division into action. Through an error in navigation, F Company, went to the wrong hill and walked straight into an large enemy position. Only 26 men returned. In all the 5th. Cavalry Regiment suffered 275 casualties between it's two battalions during the Battle for Yongdong. It was during this action that Sergeant Besemer was listed missingwhile giving first aid to his fallen comrades. His fellow soldiers searched the area after the battle and found no remains. He is not on the Johnson list or any other prisoner of war list he was decalired dead. Also the Silver Star was presanted to my grandmother in honor of Robert. If anyone knew him, or knows anything about him please let me know. Thank You. Karen Baker

We know he was killed in a military hostile action, but other than that? We never really got to know him. He served behind enemy lines in Burma during WWII and is in history books about that area of the war. But we'd like to know more about who he was as a person. We never got to have our dad. Hopefully, someone is still alive who might have even a crumb of information about him. We'd be so appreciative. It would help to close a chapter in our lives.

Comments: I served in Svc. Co., HQ Btn. 5th Cav. in Korea from sometime in the Spring of 1951 until the Division was pulled out to go to Japan. I remained in the same assignement in Japan until about October, 1992 until I was returned to DI for discharge.

I would like to hear from anyone in the same location at the same time.

Comments: Looking for anyone who knew my brother, SSgt. Leonard Piorunski, from Chicago. He was with the 1st Cav. Div., 5th Cav. Reg. Killed 2-22-51.

F Co 3rd Platoon:

Would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who served with him.

My brother was killed while his unit was trying to drive Chinese forces off a mountain ridge north of the Han River during the second Winter Offensive. (I found out that he was killed on the same day that Ted Hofsiss was wounded.)
