Comments: I joined the 590th at Ft. Lewis about August 1950. When the unit was deployed, I was a member of a 10 man advanced party that flew to Japan. We were billited at the Yokohama Signal Depot until we received further orders to fly to Pusan in a C-47. We pitched tents to accommodate the company when they arrived by ship. After their arrival, the unit convoyed to Seoul where we lived in some damaged buildings that were formerly a university. I left Korea in December 1951.

8th Army

datein: 10 Oct 1950 dateout: 29 Dec 1951

The advanced unit of the 590th Signal co. arrived in Korea from Ft.
Lewis in Oct '50. No one seemed to know what we were doing there, so
we were initially assigned as a GHQ unit. In Nov '50, we were finally
assigned to 8th Army.

Our unit was fragmented at platoon level with the primary
responsibility of constructing and maintaining long line communication.
Our unit's movements ranged from Pyong Yang to Pusan. At this time I
am only in contact with one member of my unit, James L. Rouse, of Ft
Pierce, FL.

Prior to separating from our unit, we all promised to have a reunion.
It never happened. Any former members of my unit, please contact me.
