(BUD) ATKINSON wrote on March 12, 1999 City and State: ALBUQUERQUE NM Unit: HQ., 55TH QM BASE DEPOT, PUSAN Service or Relationship: Comments: Would like to find Inactive Reservist called up that went to Camp Dix, NJ, to Ft.Hood for Infantry Refresher, Steam Engine train to Camp Stonan, Ca, thence to Korea around Jan 1 1951. Landed in Yokahama, train to Sasabo, staging area, held there for approx 10 days then a group of MOS 405 shipped to Pusan joining Hq., 55th QM Depot, Pusan. Secretary of ManPower [?], Anna Rosenberg, insisted that Inactive Reservist should not have been called up and ordered us returned. We returned in Sept.or Oct.'51, on the Gen. Polk, a real MATS, Troop Ship, rather than a Vioctory Ship that took us over. Unit Members received two Bronz Stars. Looking for: Baker, Penyen, New York Basseman, Upstate NY.
