I am trying to locate anyone from the 514th Med. Co. (Clr), initially at Masan on 03-52.

The unit was first posted to POW Command then to 8th Army.

This unit was moved through Inchon in 1953 to Munsan-ni for Operation Little Switch and then for Operation Big Switch. They were still there, just outside DMZ in November 1953 when I left to go home.

Comments: I've been reading the comments from the warriors who served in Korea with both pride and horror. My dad, who passed away in 1994, seldom spoke of his time in Korea as a medic, with the 187th RCT, but when he did I could tell it was not a cake walk. He served from 1951-1953 and spoke of the horrible injuries he witnessed. I do know that he always had terrible nightmares, and would come up swinging, from a solid sleep. I would like to find out what he was actually involved in. When he enlisted he hailed from Baltimore, Md. and had a good friend named Buddy enlist with him. He was discharged on the west coast and drove cross country before his car blew up. I would love to swap emails with anyone willing to discuss their times in korea with me.

I went to Japan in July 1950 with the 514th Med Clr Co Sep we went to
Korea in the latter part of Aug 1st part of Sep we were assigned to 8th
Army I Corp as a Med Evac Co.

we were all over Korea from Pusan to within 5 miles of the Yalu river

I was 20 years old at the time of the Chosin battle I know what you were
going through as we were catching Hell also.

The 514th received a Presidential Unit Citation within 30 days we had
25,000 casualties pass through our hands and we had only 120 assigned
personal we were working day and night around the clock the Gen Order
# 352 documents it.

I will keep in touch I found the 514th it is still on active duty it is
now called the 514th Ground Ambulance Co.
