Comments: Activated 507th at Camp McGill, then moved to Ashiya AFB in 1949. At that time I took out a Civilian Insurance Policy and in 1955 the Gov't and them decid3ed to make this a paid up Policy, and since, I have lost the Policy. Does anyone remember this and have the address?
Would like to hear from anyone in the years 1949-1952. I was last with Btry "C" 507th at Brady AFB.

Comments: My father just passed away. He was a Army Medic in the Korean War. His Honrable Discharge papers state he was dicharged with Rank of SP3 (T). What rank is this? We want to give him a Military Funeral, it would be nice to know what his rank was. He Did not speak much of his service in the Army.

Comments: My high point was in early 1956 (maybe late 55, I forget), when we scored the highest scores in field live fire exercises for the Far East Command. Left the Army in August, 1956. Capt. Crawford was our CO (couldn't have worked for a better officer). WOJG, Mr. Peter Gay, was our battalian technical specialist, another of the best.
Keywords: Was an AFCS specialist on the T-38 (Skysweeper), 75mm AA gun. Schooled at Ft. Bliss, in Scope C-37, deployed to Misawa, in August of 1955.

Comments: I was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 25, 1955. I arrived at Misawa Airbase on January 7, 1956 and assigned as Personnel Clerk. I was Personnel Sergeant when I left Misawa in June 1957. I was one of the last of the 507th personnel to leave. The unit was de-activated in June 1957. My last days were long days, cutting orders to re-assign all Army personnel.
I was discharged on July 10, 1955. I resumed my college and received a B.S. in Business Education in 1960. I taught for 35 years at Madison Heights High School in Anderson, IN retiring in 1995.

Comments: Marvin Head, 70, attempting to prove a VA disability claim. He's incompetent now and unable to help much. Army records show he had MOS of 1602 (gunner) and was in B Btry, 78th AAA Gun Battalion from 1 Sep 51 to 24 Jan 52. After a brief hospitalization, he was in Btry C, 32nd (typo?) Auto Weapons Battalion from 3 Feb to 18 July 52. Finally he was in B Btry, 507th Auto Weapons Battalion from 19 July 52 to 26 Sep 52. The question is: Were any of these units engaged in combat during these periods? Were any of them shelled? If you were there and your answer is yes, please call or email me. I will put your recollections into affidavit form for your signature and notarization. The affidavit will then be filed in Marvin's VA claim. Thanks for any assistance.

Comments: Do remember Cpl Sidney Holman shooting down the first enemy plane in the Korean War. Don't remember much of the other soldiers names but do remember that all (about 35 men) were volunteers before UN action began. We were from several different batteries of the 507th aaa bn defending Suwon and did so admirably for a few days. North Korean army easily broke thru and began encircling us. Thus we began withdrawing to the south and extracted via USAF plane to return to Ashiya for rearming and returned to Korea immediatly to Pusan via boat. From there we headed north again via train. I was a Cpl at the time and a field medic.

I'd especially like contact information for anyone from "A" Battery, "C" Battery or "Hgds" Battery who was there while I was, since I would like to set up a reunion (possibly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin).
Please contact me in any way you can.

Comments: "When volunteers were called for to proceed to Korea to operate M-55 machine guns in defense of the airstrip at Suwon, Corporal Todd ofered his services. On 29 and 30 June 1950, the airstrip was subjected to repeated bombing and strafing attacks from YAK fighters of the North Korean forces and direct attacks were made on gun positions. Corporal Todd, at great risk to his life, remained at his post during these attacks and destroyed, crippled, or drove off the enemy planes, thus making the airstrip operational for the entire period of its use by American forces in support of the South Korean Army. As a result of his actions, along with those of the other members of Detachment Xray, two (2) enemy planes were destroyed and at least three (3) others damaged. Corporal Todd's courage and devotion to duty are an inspiration to others, and reflect great credit on the military service. By command of Lieutenant General Walker
E.M. Landrum, Colonel, GSC, Chief of Staff
R.L. Butt, Jr., Lt. Col., AGD, Asst. Adjutant General"
Leslie G. "Buster" Todd passed away December 29, 2000 at the age of 72
Seeking those who may have known Buster and any stories which can be related.
Regards, Mick Korelc, step-son
