FINDING RAYMOND WARE - KANSAS |
| JOANNE JOHNSON (SILLS) wrote on August 27, 2009 CITY AND STATE: SAN ANTONIO TX UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FRIEND OF VETERAN Comments: I attended a seminar where Mr. Chuck Henry was the speaker at the DAV Natl Convention. I got this email address from a poster and also gave him my card. I found RAYMOND WARE a neighbor and family friend that we have been looking for since he was listed as "missing" during the Korean War. I was elated to see there was a family DNA SAMPLE taken but saddened to see he was a POW and died a captive. This information brings closure to me and my family. We all loved Raymond as he was "a gentle giant" and always looked out for those of us who were younger than him. Just one question: just to be sure, can you determine if he was an African American? Raymond was. Keywords: |

THE FORGOTTEN BATTLE KUNU-RI |
| ROBERT GREER II wrote on January 8, 2009 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: The more I research the history of the 503rd, more importantly their contribution in Korean and their heroism at Kunu-ri covering the International forces retreat. Only to find themselves behind enemy lines. Their covering fire encompass 360 degrees and after everything was said and done only 20% of the men of the 503rd were accounted for. My father Capt.Robert G Greer (Retired) rarely talk about Korea besides the fact that in his mind body and soul, it was the coldest place on earth. PVT. EDWIN N. LOVE |
| JULIE WORTHEY wrote on September 25, 2007 CITY AND STATE: UNIT: SERVICE OR RELATIONSHIP: INTERESTED PERSON Comments: I discovered this site while trying to learn about a soldier who died in Korea, Pvt. Edwin N. Love. I don't know if any one who visits here knew him or has any memories of Pvt. Love but that really isn't important to me just now. I learned today that Pvt. Love was a young African American man who lost his life serving in the Army during the Korean conflict. I wanted to write this note and say that I am truly enriched for having learned of him and his contribution. Pvt. Edwin N. Love has a street named after him in Yonkers NY and when my girlfriend rescued the beautiful cast iron street sign which was about to be "retired", I began my search to discover who Edwin Love was. To his family, his friends who may believe he is lost in our history. Please know that Edwin N. Love is remembered, and I will pass on this small fact of our local Westchester NY history to all who care to listen. Peace and Blessings to all who read this and to all who have a loved one who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. J. Worthey Keywords: "Edwin N. Love" Yonkers, NY 503rd Field Art. Batt. |
