Comments: I'm an active duty Army LTC looking for info on my father, now deceased, Fred H. Ford, Jr. of Hudson NH. I believe that he was a signalman with X Corps at the Chosin Reservoir in Dec 1950. He was a member of Chosin Few until his death in 1997. Any info on the specific unit, dates in country, campaigns, etc, will be appreciated. e-mail herbnmindy@cleanweb.net. Thanks.

Comments: My Dad died in 1992. He was a member of the 4th Signal Bn R&M company. I have lots of photos from prior to the start of the war and also a book about the 4th printed circa late 1951 or 1952. My father got out in 1952/53 and then returned to the Army in 1962. He retired in 1977 as SFC. I am trying to build on the photos and limited information. I would appreciate hearing from others who served in the unit whether they knew my father or not. The history of where various people were and which units of the Army and Marines they were supporting would be great. Thanks in advance.

Comments: I was in Yanguu from 5/53 - 8/53 and worked teletype in the bunker at X Corps. I was transferred to Panmunjom in 8/53. I served under Capt.Skinner. I was there when the cease-fire was effected and I recall the sudden use of headlights on the vehicles instead of the blackout lights we'd become used to. Does anyone remember the AFKN radio programs? The Brooklyn born DJ who spun the country music?

Comments: I searched and found the name of Franklin Wakefield, a young man from my home town, KIA early in the Korean War, and although I eventually entered th Air Force and flew a Korean combat tour as a B-29 gunner, and had several friends lost, I've always remembered Franklin and what a very decent young man he was!! We are all diminished by his loss and my thoughts and prayers are still with him and his family!!! Sincerely Frank Farrell, Aldan,Pa. (now in Durango ,Colorado)

4th Signal Battalion

From: URNCHAD@aol.com
Subject: Info regarding the 4th Signal Battalion Corps

There seems to be no information regarding this unit which entered the
korean peninsular at the Inchon landing and as far as I know may still
be there.

The unit provided communications for various groups iover the whole
peninsular including the marines ,army and artillery units. Most of us
were presented with an additional Truman year due to having a critical
MOS. We left from PUSAN on converted Victory or liberty ship far
from a comfortable trip. Its been years since I've even thought of that
time and i just thought that some of the men i served with might still
be around .However, over the years most of the names have been
overwritten.

I have in my possession a 4th Signal Battalion Book which was printed
some time in 1951 which has pictures of just about everyone in the
Battalion during the summer of 1951 and it also includes a brief history
of the Battalion during WW11. The Battalion, as you may know,
was in the Inchon invasion. I was assigned to the unit in April 1951.
