Comments: I served in Korea during Aug. 1951 to Sept. 1952. When on R&R in Japan, I had a silk screen picture of my wife and also one of a friend's daughter or sister made. The last name of my friend in Korea was either Thomas or Thompson. I would like to get this silk screen picture to him. Have had both pictures in the original package from Tokyo, Japan for all these years. The friend is British and also gave me most of his month's pay to go on R&R. Would love to hear from him or any relatives who may have heard this story. The last I heard from him he was living in Washington, DC.

Dean Bruner wrote on 2005-12-02 10:10:18.0
Comments: I was a FO with the Ethiopian unit on outpost Arsenal(T-Bone Hill) at the close of the Korean conflict. I returned to Btry A o/a 1 Aug 53 and was handed a brass letter opener with the inscription "from the last round fired 27 JUL 53". The KSC's prepared a sand mold and used the melted brass from the last 105mm round to construct these letter openers. The inscription does not indicate which of the Firing Batteries fired this round. At the time, I was told that it was Btry "A" and I Would like to have confirmation. Would like to hear from anyone assigned the 48th FA Bn during this period who has first hand information on this subject (Btry, Target, time etc).
