Comments: My dad's military records wre "lost" in "the fire" and so I have no information at all. All I know is what is on his tombstone. "Johnnie S Martinez, Tec5, 3 Signal Co. WWII.". He joined the army out of Colorado, but was born in New Mexico. He was brilliant in telecommunications. Repaired radios and Televisions. He died in 1957, shortly after he got out of the army.

Comments: I arrived in Korea, 3rd ID in June 1951 and rotated out in December 1951. I was in the Radio Relay / Carrier and Repeater section. It has been so many years that I don't remember names anymore. I do remember there were 2 men from Boston and one from Alabama that I worked with on a radio relay site north of Seoul. There was a ROK member assigned to our unit by the name of Kim and he was a really sharp person. When I arrived there was a 1st Lieutenant that was a graduate of West Point but soon after he was reassigned and the SFC of the unit was commissioned to take over the section. He was from New York City and he had a Hispanic (Gonzales or something like that) name. Anyone with information please contact me. I would apprecciate any information that you can provide about names or personnel. I went through the Ft. Monmount Signal School in 1950 and was in Company Q. Ater returning from Korea I was assigned to Ft. Hood Texas where I was discharged in 1953.

Comments: I currently serve as the Commander of 3d Signal Company. For many years, 3ID was supported by 3rd Signal Battalion, but during the transformation to Modularity a few years ago (circa 2004) the 123rd Signal Battalion was inactivated and each company from the battalion was moved so that each brigade now has their own signal company. The equipment and names have changed, but we still have great Americans supporting the 3RD INFANTRY DIVISION. CMH shows that the motto of the company used to be "BY ALL MEANS SIR", but when the company was stood back up in 2004, we adopted "VOICE OF THE ROCK!" since 3ID now proudly bears the title "ROCK OF THE MARNE" from WWII. We no longer have the photo section in the signal company, but coincidentally, we do have a Soldier that wishes to transfer to that MOS (SGT Lopez) and is working in the Public Affairs section taking photos and recording videos of our ceremonies. I have run across a few WWII era photos, and like to see the old black and whites. We have posted a few of them on our walls on more than one occasion. For any of the veterans that are still out there, thank you for leaving us the wonderful legacy that you have. We salute you!

Comments: Most of my fellow troops may be either dead or so old like me, that it kinda seems so odd to be trying to contact people with memories of that period. We were mostly assigned to relay teams and did not get to meet many people of the company. I was promoted to Cpl and sent to Mt Fuji, Japan on my own hitching all the way to Puson. Joined the 34 Inf Regt, 24 Inf Div and trained soldiers for deployment to Korea until I rotated to the states in the spring of 53. Retired as lSG on a Nike Hercules Missile Site Outside Pittsburg, Pa. Reside in a small town in Western Tennessee at this time. Hope to hear from someone that may have been there and done that during our time.

Keywords: I was l7 years old and was CW operator for the 3d SigCo,3d Inf Div. Went to a Radio Operator school in Suwan, Korea, near the Air Base. Left for the 3d Sig Co in Apr of 1951. Trained OJT and was assigned to a Belguim Brigade. Returned to the Sig Co and spent time in the Chorwon Valley. That was about 60 years ago and my memory is not so good about names. But I remember the country very well.

Comments: I'm searching for anybody who may have served with my father, Harold Bailey (Hal). He passed away on Christmas Eve this year at the age of 71. My family has been looking through his wonderful old leather Army photo album, and we were hoping to contact any buddies he may have served with. Dad never said much of this war - only that too many of his friends lost their lives over there. I'd love to chat with anybody who knew my Dad. He served in the army for 4 yrs. and 3 days. He spent one year, 2 months, and one day in Korea. He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1951.
Thank you.
