My Father Jimmy L. Davidson

Comments: My father was in Korea from approx 2/52 to 6/53 with 3rd ID company C/HQ 15th Inf Regiment. He never really spoke to much about Korea other than how cold it was over there and things were rather tough. He recently passed away and I found a bronze star order for him. He did tell me that he was wounded in 1952 and shipped to Japan. When he was shipped back he was assigned to HQ and Maj John D. Eisenhower until leaving Korea.

RIP to an old Soldier... Floyd H DePew, Jr.

Comments: I wanted to pass on that we lost my uncle Junior yesterday. He served with 3rd ID in Korea. I'm unsure of his regiment or exact dates, but he was very proud of the division. I also served with 3rd ID during Desert Storm, and he spoke with me often about his pride. His name was Floyd H. DePew, Jr. He lived a long, happy life and left behind a loving wife, three sons, several grandkids, seven brothers and sisters, and many, many nieces and nephews. He lived a good life, was a good man, and will be missed. If anyone out there served with him, I thought you'd like to know.

Comments: I am looking for information about my father, Alexander Dankovich, who went to Korea in the fall of 1951. His military service record was destroyed in the "Fire" and I have little to go on. My mother did tell me that he and several of his buddies "adopted" a little Korean boy while they were there and named him "Paul." I think he left Korea in 1952. Grandfather in 3rd ID

Comments: My grandfather served in the Korean war in 1953 I believe. After he passed I recieved some papers of his from that time from my grandmother. I was young at the time and he never talked about it at all. It wasnt until after his passing that I learned that he was in the army and that he served in the Korean war. COVINGTON - Colonel Frank P. Ringenbach Jr., 85, of Whispering Pines, N.C., formerly of Covington, died June 6 2007 at his home.

He was a retired Army colonel who served in World War II, Korean War and the war in Vietnam. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

His first wife, Patricia Ringenbach, died in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Catullo Ringenbach; sons, Dard and John "Hans" Ringenbach; daughter, Jan Saltzman; stepdaughter, Jayne Catullo; and four grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Remember CPT Ed Carp?

Comments: My grandfather Ed Carp, who died before I was born, served with the 3rd ID in Korea. He didn't talk about the war much before he died and I never knew him. I'm now a combat medic with the 1st Cavalry Division in Baghdad and I'd love to know more about my grandfather's wartime service. I know he was the commander of a mortar company, as my grandmother has a photo of him next to a sign reading "Ed Carp's Friendly Mortar Company."

Comments: The Greek Infantry Battalion, Part of the Greek Expeditionsry Force to Korea which also included a squadron of C-47's, was first attached to the 1st Cavalry Division, 7th Cavalry Regiment. When the 1st Cav. was moved to Japan, the Greek battalion was attached to the 3rd Infantry Division, 15th Infantry Regiment. I was attached to the "Oboe" Company.

For actions in which the Greek battalion participated between 1951 and 1952, it was awarded the U. S. Presidential Unit Citation.

Comments: The last few weeks I have been moved several times to tears for mixed reasons: First: Pride of seeing my old 3 ID performing in Iraq, rekindling memories of days long ago when I was proudly wearing your Blue and White Patch and blue "fouragere".How I wished I could have been there too participating in one of the most astonishing and historical battles of all time.Something that has never been done before,and perhaps never will be equaled or trumped. Scondly:Seeing by seeing all these"anti" madmen doing their outmost efforts by giving comfort to the enemy by offering straws of hope to cling to. Comments: I’m searching on the www for my dad's dad. He served in the Army Quartermaster School around 1952 to 1953 in Lenggries/Germany at the Prinz Heinrich Kaserne.

His name was John Nicolson or Nicholson. He was an Officer in the cooking department.

He met my grandma at this time and they had a nice time together. But then in 1953 he had to go to Korea. And my grandma had never contact with him again. Maybe he never knew, that he has a son.

Now I want to ask you, do you know something about Qartermaster School. Or how can I find soldiers from this Quartermaster School Assoiation ?Is there a Veteran meeting somewhere ?

Comments: I was involved in the battle of Hill 717 on 1951, was the first one wounded, there. We took the Hill 717, but learned later we were attacked during the night, a fierce battle I understand and the Hill was retaken by the No. Koreans.

Comments: My Father Edward E. Nagel was a tech sgt in the 81st ord tank co in Korea and was injured and went to some hospital in Korea. He is trying to claim duty disability through the VA but his medical records were lost/destroyed. Anyone with and info please help me help my father. Comments: My uncle's name is Billie P. Chaney. He served in Korea 1950. He got out of army in may of 1950, and was called back up in June or July 1950. I do not know what unit or div except, I remember a 3rd inf div patch he kept in a box of patches etc. He came home in 1951. He supposedly was on the Yalu when the Chinese entered the war. He said they were with the marines there. He was from Breckenridge, Tx. He passed away in May of 1980 at 50 years old. He may have been in the Combat Engineers.

What little I did overhear indicated that he was with a combat unit which saw action. Years ago, I've heard from former comrades he was highly respected as a soldier's solder. I recognize. the 3rd Infantry Div. patch as something he kept along with some medals. He was Irish born and sent to K. w/I 1-2 years of immigration to NYC. I wonder if anyone remembers him from the war?
