Comments: I was 5 or 6 yrs old when my uncles were ready to be deployed to Korea and my grandmother (their mom) was holding on to them and crying while begging them to promise they would return to her; they did promised, and they did return. I'm looking for information on my 3 uncles: Hilario Rodriguez Rivera, Donato Rodriguez Rivera, and Fruto Rodriguez Rivera. I want my children to be aware of the sacrifices and bravery my family endured for our country. I also want to thank all the men and woman who fought for the rest of us to be here, it's an honor. Thank you.

Comments: The Greek Infantry Battalion, Part of the Greek Expeditionsry Force to Korea which also included a squadron of C-47's, was first attached to the 1st Cavalry Division, 7th Cavalry Regiment. When the 1st Cav. was moved to Japan, the Greek battalion was attached to the 3rd Infantry Division, 15th Infantry Regiment. I was attached to the "Oboe" Company.

For actions in which the Greek battalion participated between 1951 and 1952, it was awarded the U. S. Presidential Unit Citation.

Comments: The last few weeks I have been moved several times to tears for mixed reasons: First: Pride of seeing my old 3 ID performing in Iraq, rekindling memories of days long ago when I was proudly wearing your Blue and White Patch and blue "fouragere".How I wished I could have been there too participating in one of the most astonishing and historical battles of all time.Something that has never been done before, and perhaps never will be equaled or trumped. Scondly:Seeing by seeing all these"anti" madmen doing their outmost efforts by giving comfort to the enemy by offering straws of hope to cling to. Finaly,I was also deeply ashamed by the antics of my own little country:(b)elgium, now toadying up to our historical enemies:(f)rance and (g)ermany and trying to thwart American plans.America that liberated us twice from the "BOCHE" in WW I and WW II and saved our people from starvation after the conflicts. A slogan popped in my mind for some of your congress men ,performers and media mind benders:"Ask not what I am doing against my country ,but ask what can I suck out of it"I hope and pray that you will soon be relieved and return your hero's back to their families at home. ---------------end message---------------------- After seeing the cartoon of Mr.Rumsfelt skating on a couple tanks another one came to mind:(I Hope you have a cartoonist on board?) Panel 1:Draw a General(Franks)behind desk A messenger bringing a note:Caption: Sir! we lost track of the 7th Cav 3ID they are off the radar screen Sir! Panel 2:Draw a Humvee,3 ID 7 Cav Banner on antenna,2 GI's manning 50 cal machine gun 3 ID patches on helmet and shoulders.Pointing gun at KIM IL SUNG;Petrified,Hair standing up.buck teeth etc.( optional) dust cloud long line of receeding armor.Caption underneat. "@#%^*!" Man ! this ain't Sadam! - Jeez I guess we just went to fast. This would be a good one for the Stars & Stripes or your div Paper. I can not draw well but come up with some good situation ideas. Sincerely Ed DE BRUYCKER.

Stephanie Hirn wrote on 2002-11-24 18:33:50.0

Comments: I’m searching on the www for my dad's dad. He served in the Army Quartermaster School around 1952 to 1953 in Lenggries/Germany at the Prinz Heinrich Kaserne.

His name was John Nicolson or Nicholson. He was an Officer in the cooking department.

He met my grandma at this time and they had a nice time together. But then in 1953 he had to go to Korea. And my grandma had never contact with him again. Maybe he never knew, that he has a son.

Now I want to ask you, do you know something about Qartermaster School. Or how can I find soldiers from this Quartermaster School Assoiation ?Is there a Veteran meeting somewhere ?

Can I find a list on the internet from Quartermaster School soldiers for this time period ?

I would appreciate any information you might have regarding my search.

Thank you very much

Grandaughter, Stephanie

Last Casualty of 3rd Div possibly with 39th

Mr. Barker,

My name is Howard P. Hall. I am serving as the commander of A-39 FA
(TAB) at Fort Stewart Georgia. I am trying to find out all available
information about a young man by the name of NEUMEIR. I am not sure of
the spelling of that.

I think this was the last soldier to have died from the 3rd Infantry
Division. We would like to memorialize that war as well as the soldiers
who died in the war. I also believe he died of wounds. All indications
so far are that he was in Alpha Battery of the 39th Field Artillery
Regiment.

I have been doing research on this soldier but have come up empty. All
my leads are exhausted and I was hoping you could help me.

I was told by one of the agencies that there are two survivors from
that unit and I would like to get in touch with them also. If you have
any information on them it would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, I think you should know we plan to rename DIVARTY field after
this soldier on the 5th of December as part of our yearly ST Barbara's
Day Celebration (She is the Patron Saint of the Field Artillery). The
survivors will lend a touch of class to the ceremony as well as give us
a chance to say thank you in front of 8000 active duty soldiers.

Thank You in advance for any information you help provide. I will
continue to search for more info to help you in any searches you might
conduct.
