FREEDOM GATE BRIDGE |
| GEORGE LLOYD wrote on February 13, 2010 City and State: Unit: Service or Relationship: FAMILY MEMBER Comments: Can any of you refer me to a good source of information about the construction of The Freedom Gate bridge? My father was a Lt assigned to the HQ Company for the 3 TMRS from late 51 until shortly before the war ended. I have a photo he shot of the first locomotive across the bridge from the 714th TROB and what appears to be a dedication of the bridge and would like any information regarding this event. I think dad may have mislabeled the photo as "shoe fly bridge" but he says this was built rapidly to facilitate the exchange of prisoners. Keywords: |

I would like to know more of his units history and what they did from 1952-53 while he was there. He said his commander was a Colonel James W Sandridge and that when it was time for him to be sent home due to his service in the earlier war he had to go to pusan to try and get a replacement officer to take his position. My father said he was then replaced by a Major Flint. Does anyone know either of these two officers? Keywords: Headquarters company |

PERSHING STEAM LOCOMOTIVE NO. 765 (EX-6779). |
| CHARLES SCHUETZ wrote on June 25, 2002 City and State: GREEN BAY WI Unit: N/A Service or Relationship: INTERESTED PERSON Comments: The National Railroad Museum, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has in its collection of rolling stock a Pershing-class steam locomotive currently numbered 101, but was numbered in the past 765 and 6779. Some of you may be familiar with this particular locomotive as it was outshopped in Pusan by members of the 765th Railway Shop Battalion and renumbered to honor their unit. Our museum plans to honor members of the Military Railway Service who served in Korea with an exhibit detailing the experiences of soldiers serving in the MRS as well as a complete history of this particular Pershing locomotive. If anybody has knowledge of this locomotive or served with the 765th and helped restore the locomotive, I'd be very interested in hearing from you. Any type of information relating to its history or the history of the unit and members is welcome as well as any photographs and documents. Please feel free to contact me either by telephone or via e-mail. Thank you to all of you who served, and know that you are not forgotten.
