I'm looking for anyone who knew PFC Adrian Kusiolek, who served with 3rd Engineer Combat Battalion during the Korean War. He was killed on July 16, 1950 near Taejon.
I am developing a memorial dedicated to the alumni from my school district who perished in Korea. Any information about PFC Kusiolek would be greatly appreciated and make an important addition to our program. Thanks.

Also, at one time his tanks was painted "The year of the Tigers" In his log he wrote; " 28 Jan 50 Tanks will be painted to - resemble ferocious Tigers - Blk - Tellow - Red - White when paint available ..."
He also spent time in Japan, Korea, Panama City, Cuba, England, Germany, etc. etc.
Here is a small list of men that he was in command in. This comes from his "book", I will just list just the names.

Comments: After returning from a year in Korea myself, I became interested in my father's tour during the 50's. He began in '52 as PFC Leo (Lucky) Nelson, then CPL, and finally SGT. He served in HSC 3rd ENG BN first as a welder under a SGT Vasquez(sp)in maintenance, "On the hill" He then went on to operate a 10 ton recovery vehicle, and later as his tour was winding down was the Sergeant of a convoy delivering care packages to the orphanages in Pusan. He remembers very little, but would like to hear from anyone who remembers him. Only a very few names stick out in his memory, Col Steinhoffer(sp) was the Bn Commander, and his 1SG was Moody, 1SG Moody had red hair, and a red beard, He thinks they called him "The Big Red Bull" Please email me with any info, and I'll pass it on to him, Dad's no good with computers, and his health is fading, but it would sure brighten up his day to hear from an Army buddy. Thanks alot, SPC David Nelson

currently writing my memoirs to pass on to my grandchildren. I am
looking for anyone who may have been with or near my best friend
when he got killed in Korea on 10 July 1950. The particulars are as
follows.
NAME Wayne O. Meyer, PFC
Ser.No. 15412012
DOB 27 July 1931 Mansfield, Ohio
Member Co. B, 3rd Engineers Combat Battalion 24th Inf. Div
The information I have is that on. 10 July 1950,Wayne was driving a
2 1/2 ton truck loaded with demolition, in convoy returning to the CP
at Chochiwon when the convoy was straffed by friendly aircraft.
Wayne was hit and died instantly.
Other information I have is that CO. B lost two men on 10 July 1950,
1 killed and 1 missing. Can anyone help me find the truth.
Update: May 1998
Also I contacted the 24th Inf. Div through your page and got in touch
with "Rudy & Vonnie" who put out the 24th's paper the "TARO LEAF."
I sent them the same message I have on your 3rd Combat Engineers page.
Yesterday I got a letter from a guy that was in the convoy with Wayne.
He actually saw the Sgt. take Wayne's body from the cab of the truck and
hide it in a culvert. He helped off load the balance of the demolitions
while the truck was still smoldering. The convoy was straffed by
American F-80s which coincides with my own research.
Thanks for the good work
