Comments: If you are looking for a DNA to support Louis A.
Damewood loss, then you should try Ronald L. Damewood
who would be a nephew. Last known address I have is
Midlothian, Maryland 21543 phone #301-689-5694. My line with this Damewood is 4 generations back, but would willing to give a DNA.

LOOKING FOR A CORPORAL

DEIRDRE DAVISON wrote on September 21, 2010

City and State:

Unit:

Service or Relationship: OTHER

Comments: Greetings,

My father was an army photographer in the Korean War. He sketched a portrait of a corporal from the 38th infantry, 2nd div in 1952. My father passed away a few years ago and I would like to find the gentleman in the drawing or his family so that I can give him/them the drawing. The soldier's name is nowhere on the sketch. Are there any archival pictures of the 2nd division from 1952 that I might be able to compare the pictures against my father's drawing?

Can anyone help me or put me in contact with someone who can help me? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Deirdre Davison

I had heard some stories of family members of memories of him when he lived at home before he went to war. It has always been a mystery to me that he has been MIA since 1950. If anyone knew him in this Regiment, or has any news since 1950 on him let us know. As far as I know he would have been around 21 at the time of MIA, and did not marry or have any children to the best of my knowledge. I can be contacted by email or by cell phone: (336)402-1626

This is the info I found so far on this website:

Master Sergeant Strickland was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on November 26, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.

Comments: In my own search for information on my uncle SFC Roland Clatterbuck who went missing 13 Feb 1951 I have noted the many many people searching for information on lost relatives and friends from these few incredibly difficult days for the 38th. Love company inparticular was decimated. I managed to be connected to James Earp by his daughter who vividly remembered my uncle from the few days leading up to this huge battle. Mr. Earp, who has since passed noted that few survived unscathed from the 38th through the first months of the war and through the period of 13 February 1951. I would be interested in hearing from any Love company survivors of this period who might have remembered my uncle, SFC Roland Clatterbuck, who served from the first days of the Korean War. It would be nice if a 38th/Love company website link might be established to link the many people brought to together by the losses of love company during this timeframe - their seem to be so many.
