Comments: My father, Mendel Poston was in the Korean Conflict. He was a 2nd Lt. and a Clemson Graduate from SC. I would like to find anyone who knew him during this time. I have always been interested in this "War" and would like to hear from someone who knew him. He did tell me how cold it was there and how he hated to lose men in the unit. He also said that he didn't want to ever have to climb another mountain because he climbed so many in Korea, just to see what was on the other side. There were a few other stories told, when I was a child, but now that I am an adult I would like to know more than what I've read books. Thank you to all of the Brave Men who Served our country. Comments: Yes ,,I too..am interested in finding out what happened to a American man that lost his life for his country...His name is Jackie Lee Thurman..He was presumed dead September 3, 1950,,
He was last seen helping his shell shocked Comanding Officer back from the OutPost during the battle, In korea..I have read different ones comments on the war and some of their Experiences..Having my own family members come home from there and to have lost one family member there..I have to come to what I believe to be a logical conculsion ..that is to go back in korea with force and retrieve what is ours including the country itself if necessary. Yes I believe it is time to take what is ours.I sit here reading what is left of my Brother ..Just a piece of paper telling me where he was last seen and reading the heart breaking stories of how we were treated there and knowing their pows were treated much better.

Comments: WIA Sept 5th 1950 on Nakton River, and again on Nov 28 1950 in Kunuri? Can anyone help me fill in more info? Anyone out there that helped me on the dates listed. I do know that someone put me under a tank for protection on the 28th and then when the roadblock was broken I was put on a tank with other wounded and anyone else that could get on. We were stacked on each other. Down the road I and others were put on litter Jeeps or Weapons carriers. I would also like to let others know that they can get morning reports of dates they want if they are willing to pay for them. The Gov. hires people to do the search and that is the cost. I was lucky and only had to pay $15.00. If you need more info on this and can't find it you can contact me. Thanks BOB

Comments: This updated Entry 18697 posted 4/6/00.

WILLIAM R. SEGGIE (husband's half-brother) was actually in 38 Inf Rgt 2 Inf Div - listed MiA 2/12/51, declared dead 1954 (hostile, while MIA), no body found. Anyone out there who may have been
in the unit, knows abt 2/12/51, any camps that we heard he was captured 2ce, and escaped. We heard his dogtags were buried, but remains never found/ID'd. Husband and family are doing DNA testing, and the mother has passed on. We've been in touch with several people, and we THANK THEM so much for the help/assistance provided.

Keywords: There is a reference that his unit was rear guard in the vicinity of Changbong-ni (sorry, I don't have the papers on me today from home). The papers don't necessarily mention any certain battle he was in, since there were two that fell abt the dates of MIA. His records have maps of Operation Roundup (2/11-12/51) and the Battle for Hoengsong (2/11-13/51). Since he was listed as escaped on one date in 1951, and then another in 1952 - we have no info which camp(s),or circumstances during those times that exist.
