Comments: I am trying to find out information about my Uncle Ben while he was in Korea. I was only 5 years old when he left for Korea, but I remember him well. I would like to know about where this Soyang River Battle was fought, about where he might have died, and if anyone can remember serving with him. He was my paternal grandmother's youngest son, and he died before he turned 21. I was a favorite niece, and when my grandmother died, she left me Uncle Ben's purple heart. My brother, a favorite nephew, was given the flag that draped his coffin.
Any information about my much loved uncle, and the history and location of this battle would be very much appreciated. A loving niece, Carol Baldwin EMAIL: carolb@resp-sci.arizona.edu

He was last seen helping his shell shocked Comanding Officer back from the OutPost during the battle, In korea..I have read different ones comments on the war and some of their Experiences..Having my own family members come home from there and to have lost one family member there..I have to come to what I believe to be a logical conculsion ..that is to go back in korea with force and retrieve what is ours including the country itself if necessary. Yes I believe it is time to take what is ours.I sit here reading what is left of my Brother ..Just a piece of paper telling me where he was last seen and reading the heart breaking stories of how we were treated there and knowing their pows were treated much better.

We were stacked on each other. Down the road I and others were put on litter Jeeps or Weapons carriers. I would also like to let others know that they can get morning reports of dates they want if they are willing to pay for them. The Gov. hires people to do the search and that is the cost. WILLIAM R. SEGGIE (husband's half-brother) was actually in 38 Inf Rgt 2 Inf Div - listed MiA 2/12/51, declared dead 1954 (hostile, while MIA), no body found. Anyone out there who may have been
in the unit, knows abt 2/12/51, any camps that we heard he was captured 2ce, and escaped. We heard his dogtags were buried, but remains never found/ID'd. Husband and family are doing DNA testing, and the mother has passed on. We've been in touch with several people, and we THANK THEM so much for the help/assistance provided.

Keywords: There is a reference that his unit was rear guard in the vicinity of Changbong-ni (sorry, I don't have the papers on me today from home). The papers don't necessarily mention any certain battle he was in, since there were two that fell abt the dates of MIA. His records have maps of Operation Roundup (2/11-12/51) and the Battle for Hoengsong (2/11-13/51). Since he was listed as escaped on one date in 1951, and then another in 1952 - we have no info which camp(s),or circumstances during those times that exist.
