Comments: I was stationed at the site from July 1957 until June 1958 when it finally closed.
After the hospital closed, it remained a Army signal Corps base.
The train station, then called "Kanoaka" was changed to Sakai- something in the 1960's--=early 1980s.
I visited the site in 1982, It had returned to a Japanese hospital. The plaque at the front gate (in Kanji) only spoke of the site as a WW2 Japanese hospital..No mention of the US hospital.

Comments: Served with Col Maret for one year Nov 51-Nov 52 as head of Orthopedic Department. He pinned my Captain's bars on me when I was promoted from 1st Lt. He was very good to me and later to my wife and children when they joined me in the spring of 1952. I remember caring for his wife during my tour at the 382.

Comments: I was at the 382nd from Aug 1951 until Sep 1953 working in the lab. Sometime in the Spring of 1953, the bed size of the 382nd was upgraded to 1000 beds being a rehab hosp. for epidemic hemorrhagic fever patients. Capt. Grant Johnson who was chief of Laboratory until mid 1952 passed away in Springfield Ill 7 or 8 yrs. ago. The only name that I remember is Col. Maret. I had limited personal contact with him. I left the 382nd as a Cpl., would have been up for Sgt. if had stayed another month.

Comments: It seemed my Grandfather lived an amazing life but I do not know much about it except for some recent discoveries through pictures he had taken along the way. If anyone knows Raymond (Ray) Wennberg or even knows stories about him I would love to hear them. Many pictures have a "Miller" & "Quack" in them. One picture they are standing in front of the 6219th Reception Center Sign for Sixth Army. ANY info would be great.

Comments: Noticed the comment that someone remembers my father, Col. Raymond Maret, as the CO of the 382nd. I am his daughter, Jennifer, and wanted to let any interested parties know that my father passed away in August of 1983 at Brooke Army Medical Center. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetary in the Colombarium there. His military career was his life and he was Army through and through. He spoke fondly of everyone he served with in Korea and even went back to Korea on a trip with his Rotary Club in the 1970s. Just FYI...

Comments: My Dad, Edward F. Littlehales, served with the 382nd in Kannoka during the Korean War as well as some TDY with the 8086 MASH in Korea. I believe he was a 1st Lt. at the time. He recalls that the 382nd was commissioned in Wash. DC and sent to the state of Washington for training before deploying to Japan for the duration of the war. He recalls the 382nd CO as being Raymond Maret.

Comments: I am intrested in hearing from anyone who worked at this hospital. I was there from 1951 till 1953
I was stationed at the 382nd Gen. Hosp. at Kannoka Japan. Not too far from Osaka. I was trained a combat trained medic. I went to JLC xray school, returned to the 382nd. I was there from August 51 till July 53.
We received two flights of wounded twice a day. Some times 1 or 2 at a time, some as many 10 or 15. We had a 250 bed hospital. This was an US Army hospital.
