Comments: I was the armorer for HHB from Oct. 77 thru Oct 78, would like to locate any other members of the unit from this era. I just visited the compound and it is being demolished as i write this, (Oct 2009), the area is slated to become a playground. I wish the guard would have let me walk the compound but he was insistent that was not possible.

Comments: Hello, My grandfather is John R. Hector, I believe a Lt. Col. during the Korean War. He never talked much (and I never had a chance to talk to him) about his experiences as his health was failing and he passed away when I was younger. I would greatly enjoy hearing any stories, comments or information about the 37th and/or memories about my grandfather. Please feel free to email me. Thank you.

You mentioned a photo that you were going to attach, however, there wasn't a photo attached. I was so looking forward to seeing it so I could send it to my father to see if he would remember...

Comments: Comments: Hi everyone - I'm doing some reasearch for my Dad (now 70 yrs old)- who was in Korea during the years of 1950-1951. He was discharged as Cpl. and his name is Joseph Bulluss. My Dad told me a story the other day regarding a little boy (at the time, Age 11) from a village in Taegu. Both his parents had been killed and he had no family members. He was my dad's shadow while he was there and Dad mentioned that little kid saw many of the battles he did and stuck by him. He safely delivered him back to his village in 1951 when he had turned 12. My Dad called him Skoshi Joe "Little Joe" after himself. His Korean name is Paksan. Not sure of how I can go about finding this person for him but he really would love to know what ever happened to his little friend (who is now in his 60's). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: My name is SFC Travis L Bennett. I am doing some research for my uncle who served with the 37th ARTY Battalion in the Korean war. Unfortunately his DD-214 was lost in a house fire back in the early 1970's. Recently he tried to recover a copy from HRC in St Louis only to find out that his records were burned with many others several years back.(talk bout crappy luck) Anyway, I am trying to find out any information about the 37th Arty Battalion, (rosters, etc) that might have his name on it. there is a pension that is avaliable to soldiers that served this great country and HRC told him that if he can find anything that would link him to the 37th Arty Battalion, that he would be eligable to receive this pension.
His Name is Bob Felter Bragg, he was a SFC/1SG during the War.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Tony Zdanavage played a significant role, among
veterans, in helping to create the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
He wrote and self-published a book on his personal experiences during
the war. He is now deceased and sorely missed.

Editor Note: In April of 1983, I received a letter from
Tony Zdanavage, of Berwick, Pennsylvania. It read:
Dear Hal,
I saw your request in the DAV magazine of April.
I was with the 2nd Division and attached as a medic to the 37th Field
Artillery E Battery, during the Big Road Block in late
November and December of 1950. I was wounded then and taken prisoner
for a period of time. I had my feet frozen when the Chinese took my
boots.
My problem is, I don't know how long I was a prisoner, how I returned
to our lines and anything else. I don't remember leaving Korea, Japan,
or San Francisco or how I traveled home for over 3,000 miles until I
was hitchhiking the last seven miles home.
My mind opened up at that point, but I don't even remember arriving at
my home.
I've had a rough time physically and mentally and am totally disabled. I
would like to find out if you know anyone who went through the
roadblock and anyone who was with the 37FAB. If I can help you with
anything, I will.
Thanks.

hundred yards or so from our guns. That was one hell of a battle that
took place during those three or four days.
I had just turned eighteen and don't remember names but I can still
picture the carnage that took place there, and the sight of all the
tracers across the night sky. Like you said, It was beautiful but very
deadly. It sure was great to see the tanks of the First Cav. coming in

left in Oct. 51. It sure was nice to get back home intact.
