Comments: First time here BUT not the last. To see Lt. Gen. Sidney Berry mention allong with Sgt. Lester Guigrey. Theres explaining how good an officer he was,8/18/50 was a 2nd Lt,.very soon he was a capt. and and tranfered to batalian, Declared esential ( I under stand ). On my way home I met a guy from batalian who told me he was a Major. Need I say more? He was as respected AS much by his men as he was by his superiors. Hence new recruits at Div. called us"Crazy Able" with Respect. There was nothing we wouldn't do for him.

Comments: I'm a reporter for The Express-Times in Easton, Pa., near Allentown. I'm doing a story on Korean War vet John J. Allen. During the push back up the Korean peninsula, at a place called Suuan, photographer Don Duquette took a picture of Mr. Allen. That picture appeared on the cover of Look magazine and has been used in many history books. Now, an organization is using the photo as a model for a Korean War memorial to be dedicated June 25. They want to find Mr. Allen, or his relatives, to invite them to the event. So far, no luck. If anyone knows where Mr. Allen is (He originally came from Allentown, Pa.), or if they know of a list, source, agency, or any other reference that might guide me to find him, please e-mail me at tonynauroth@hotmail.com.
Thank you,

In the October 18, 1999 Army Times, after 48 years, Korean Veterans to get Korean

the veterans will go about getting these medals. The article says that they don't
know how the veterans will go about getting these medals, but it's about time. Hey
guys, did we not receive the Presidential Unit Citation with Oakleaf Cluster and the
President Sigmund Ree Presidential Unit Citation? Those two awards were not on
my retirement form. Hate to be lond winded guys but, it's been a long 49 years. The
veterans of the Vietman War, here in Lafayette, Louisiana, dedicated a Korean War
Memorial made of white marble and gave us pins that said, Welcome Home, Thanks.
What a wonderful tribute from one veteran to another veteran. From me, I want to
say Welcome Home and Thanks. It was a previlge to serve although I was a mere
grain of sand among many. SAgt. Le

Comments: Looking for people who might have known my father,
Franklin A. Rich.

I knew he fought in Korea, but just found out
today that he participated in the Heartbreak Ridge
battle. Daddy passed away in 1989, and he never
spoke much about the war, even when we asked him
about it.

I finally found the letters, and I have been trying to put them in
chronological order so i can sort of track his whereabouts. He landed in
Korea on October 18 or 19, 1951. He was in a reserve unit. The return
address for his first station was:
Sgt Franklin A Rich NG24007219
Hg and Su. Co. 89th Med. Tank. Bn.
A.P.O. 301
Then from about November until around April 15th 1952 (or maybe a few weeks later), his address
was:

SFC Franklin A Rich NG24007219
35th tank company A.P.O. 25.

Comments: I would like to hear from any G.I.who fought alongside my cousin, PFC Charles Gladstone (35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Divison). He was killed in action on March 9, 1952. I gleaned basic information from the National Archives, but would appreciate hearing from anyone who actually served with Charles.
