Comments: Looking for any information someone can give me about
the 29th infantry regiment 3rd battalion during the
Korean War. My dad, James Matthews was in Okinawa in
1949 and went to Korea in June/July 1950. Was in the
battle at Hadong and then his unit was placed with
either the 27th infantry Regiment or 35 infantry
Regiment since most of the men of the 29th were KIA or
WIA.
I have no idea what company he was with but would like
to find out any information about what battles he was
in or find out if he was in the 27th or 35th after the
battle of Hadong. If anyone know him or was in his
unit I would like to find any of those members as well.

Thanks for your help,

Bruce Matthews

Keywords: My friend, Joseph Gurule, was with the 25th Division, 35th Infantry, 3rd Battalion in Korea in 1951. Joe has asked me to see if there are ex-soldiers out there who might have served with him in the fighting for Hill 717 in October 1951. Joe was with the P&A (Pioneer & Ammunition) Platoon. Joe lives in Lafayette, Colorado. Because he does not have Internet access, he has asked me to put this information on the Internet in hopes of perhaps re-connecting with any of his old Army buddies. Joe was also involved in the fighting for Heartbreak Ridge on January 4, 1952.

Joe states that he remembers something called the Punch Bowl area.

Joe received the Combat Infantry Badge and 3 Bronze Stars.

Joe tells me that he was with a Combat Engineer Platoon and his MOS was 3729.

I am a Viet-Nam era veteran. I served with the U.S. Air Force, 58th MAC Squadron in the late 1960s.

Thank you for any help you can give Joe!

I had recently visited this memorial in Washington D.C. in a school trip. As I looked at the pictures on the black granite wall I saw a picture that looked like my grandpa.

I was wondering if anyone knew him or knows any stories about him. I have tried to ask my dad about him before but he gets very emotional.

If anyone knows any stories or has any pictures of Oscar Edward Gallegos that would make me very happy.
