Comments: Looking for: Saier, SSgt. Purdy, Henry Stone, Earl Butts, SFC Ramirez, Lt. Butler, and any one else that served during time. There was an incident in which a fuel truck being driven by United States Marines (3) were burned to death when their truck veered off the pass after hitting a land mine and caugh fire. Does anyone remember this? Or am I losing my mind again??

Still suffering major headaches as I deal with tons of meds. My wound hurts as well. But nothing hurts more than the memories.

Comments: I have a copy of the Engr. Courier paper the had very nice article in it about the 35th and the work on Highway 1, and the reopening of the highway.in 1969. I think that the bull that Viet Nam vets go through to get a little money for P.T.S.D., is a joke, if a vet was in combat, he should be awarded atleast 50%.There are a lot of vets that would not want to discuss what they went through in Viet Nam, And why should they have to go to meeting after meeting and discuss things in a group, because if the other guys in these meetings where not in your unit, they can have the same feelings as you, why be little Viet Nam Vets more then is needed, if the V.A. really wants to help out, then they should help .

Comments: I'd like to find someone who rembers working on the bridge whe re we encountered three different mines that were exploded. The first one was alongside my crane and blew one of the workers over the abutment and into Sgt posie's arms. Next one got a dump truck that was backfilling wingwall. Third was set off by my partner backing up to hook on our trailer that carried our leads, hammer, and a clam bucket. It would be great to have someone help me rember the date and the number of the bridge.

Keywords: Looking for personel from various platoons that worked on some of the 65 bridges that were built on highway 1. I was the lead crane operator that drove piling for over half of the bridges.

Dan White wrote on 2007-10-12 14:09:26.0

Comments: I would like to hear from any one in A Company in 68 or 69. I got there in Oct 68 and we were at Lang Co village. The end of Dec we went to Phu Bai (Camp Eagle) then Hue and loaded up on a LST. 4 days later we got to Can Tho, from there we convoyed to Soc Trang. We hauled in dirt to build the compound, which turned to 3' of mud when the monsoon season came.

There were a few Marines with us at Lang Co and a few guys from the 517th L E with us also. If anyone of those guys sees this, I would like to hear from you also.

Does anyone remember the events that happened one night in early December, 1968?

Is there any place where one can get the complete history of the 35th? I guess I am getting nostalgic in my old age as I haven't kept up with their movements before and after.
