LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO KNEW MY GRANDFATHER

Comments: looking for anyone who can give me any information about my grandfather, Paul Heffelfinger. He was a SGT in the 352d during Korea. Unfortunately he died when my dad was 16, and no one can tell me anything about his service during the war. Being a veteran myself, I really need to know not only for myself but also to keep his memory alive. If anyone could tell me even a memory about my grandfather I would be deeply appreciative. He was a speed radio operator according to his DD214.

Comments: Saw the notes by Jim Jacobs and wondered if he was the same "Jake" Jacobs that I served with. We shared the same travel route at the same time with the same unit. I returned to the States in July, 1952 and was discharged from Ft. Devens, Mass.

Comments: I joined the 352nd at Camp Pickett,Va. as it was forming in preparation for embarking for Korea December of 1950. (I was a radio intercept operator). We embarked from Oakland California on the troopship Gen. William Mitchell and arrived in Pusan, Korea sometime in January. From thereon to Taegu, Taejon and Seoul where the company set up headquarters. I went with a team to Yongdongpo and then on to I corps forward at Uijongbu. From there our team went on up into North Korea where we were attached to the 15th Inf. Regt.. I returned to the states in February
of 1952 and was assigned to the 8601st AAU at
Vint Hill Farm Station

Glad to hear that there are still some out there that remember the 352nd

He was the group commander from Japan(can't remember the rest of his name, old guy with white hair, a pompous style. Acted like Patton, but wasn't nearly that smart.
