Comments: I would appreciate any information on SFC Billy G. Donahoe. I am the Casualty Assistance Officer for his family. His remains were recently repatriated to the United States and he will be buried next to his mother on 28 Dec 04 in Houston, Texas.
His surviving family knows little of his service in Korea and I'm trying to help them put together the history. SFC Donahoe, served with the 1st Marine Division during the 2d World War. He was killed on or about 12 Dec 1950 near Chosin.

Comments: Winford arrived in Korea in September 1952 and was back home in July 1953. He didn't talk about his experiences often but when he did, he mentioned a Lt. Stevens, who received a battlefield commission, Carpenter, Jones, Baruda, Mcneese and others I can't recall. He made lots of pictures with a Kodak Reflex camera when he could. He talked of his knees and feet almost freezing and how he dried his socks underneath his clothes. Spoke of rats in his bumker.I am his wife and would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have known him in Korea.Winford's memories are fading following multiple mild strokes. He doesn't like to talk about war stories.

He also said that he was assigned to Regimental HQ. His platoon was the Anti Tank and Mine. I'm looking for anyone that might know my father, or any information about his platoon. Comments: Gladys Ridge, a lady in our church is looking for information about her brother, Kenneth Ridge. He is listed as MIA, later declared dead. He sered in the 31st Inf. Regt, 3rd battalion, M Co. We are trying to find out any information about where he was last seen, how he died, the area where his body was left. Is ther any significance to the 12/12/50 day as I noted that there a lot of MIA's that date. Whatever anyone can tell us will help Gladys have some closure. Any information,no matter how small, of his service in Korea will be greatly appreciated. There must be someone, somewhere who knows something, please. I was in Nam in 65-67 and understand her need to find out what happen to her brother. Any leads or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Have found and corresponded with Jim Furnier in Stout, Ohio, and Tom Walko, 3rd Bn. Just last year ago found and talked to Roland "Londo" Leuter, now living in Las Vegas. Had not spoken to him since Feb of 1952. We have talked half dozen times on phone, swapping pictures, but still can't find Jack Slack, once of 17 Van Schoick St. in Albany. My wife and I knocked on every door of that street 2 years ago, finding nothing, and then spent hours at their KWar Memorial. Jack is not on any casualty list. Has anyone seen him since he came home from Korea? Where is Chuck Rumfola?

Comments: I am trying to find my father's unit in Korea. He wouldn't talk about combat, just his buddies and things they did to get into trouble. He passed away 12/21/94. His records were distroyed in "the fire". I have pictures of him at Camp Drew, Japan after he was wounded at Chosin. He said he made the Inchon Landing, fought at Pork Chop and T-bone Hills. After Korea he re-uped and served in the 1st Armor Div. at Fort Benning, GA. I have a picture of Dad at Fort Benning in 1955-56. He has the CIB, Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service, two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

He was from Kentucky and others from that area he served with were Ray Fairchild (who was killed in action) and James Melvin Rudd.
Challis dreamed of making a career with the Army but a service connected hearing loss cut short his dream. He died in 1978 at the age of 45.

I heard from Sylvester Helding and Jerry Austin who was the Medic assigned to us in "K" Co. After the resevoir I lost all contact with these guys; would love to know if they made it out of there alright. This is not the first search I've attempted, for some reason, I feel I might get lucky'I hope so.

Adam enlisted in the Army and left January 1 for Fort Benning. He started his official training on Jan. 10 and plans to be a Ranger.

As the scuttlebutt went,Roessler was oin patrol with his platoon and supposedly so badly wounded ,he could not carry onand was slowing down his men. Information I have is: November 29, 1950 he with 4 other cooks who were getting ready to cook breakfast when all five men were wounded. John Gibbs helped Elwood to the aid station and I don't have anymore information on him. Later a convoy of trucks were taking the wounded down a ridge and all trucks were blown up. Could Elwood have been on one of these trucks? He was in the L Company, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He had been in Japan just before getting to North Korea. He was from Virginia. Maybe someone can remember him when he was in the aid station.

Comments: I posted previously regarding my uncle Morris Mickelsen. I now know he was with Company B. He became MIA Oct 14, 1952 on hill 598 Triangle Hill. I would love to talk to anyone who may have known him or would be willing to speak of their experiences there. I am working on writing a book about it to pay tribute to the heroes of the Korean War. I cant pretend to know what it was like & need some help finding the words to tell the story of the Korean War. Thanks!!!!

Comments: Greetings,
I am a living historian who sets up re-enactments and displays of Military equipment at various events (free of charge!) to help educate the public about the sacrifices made by America's veterans. My group and myself are currently putting together a display centered around the 31st Infantry, 7th Infantry Division in 1953. I would like to here from any veterans of the Regiment from 1952 - 1953 who would be willing to share any information with me regarding what they remember about uniforms, equipment and gear that was worn during this time frame.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan Crane

Comments: I am MSG K. Munyon, US Army, preparing a project on 7th ID units east of the Chosin Reservoir for the U.S. Army First Sergeant Course. My father was a Marine in Korea, PVT Richard (Dick) Ochs. He would smile that I am researching the Army at Chosin and always gave me crap about the Army vs. USMC. I am as proud of the U.S. Army as he was of his Corps and respect his service and the example he set for me.
My last reenlistment was at the Korean War Memorial in D.C., in honor of my father who died in 1995, and I will be the 1SG of a company in Pyong Taek when I return to Korea this winter.
I plan to join this organization and I wanted to thank you for not only the outstanding reference material and links, but for the personal touch in allowing veterans and their families the chance to reach out to each other.
God bless every person in uniform who served the nation, but in my heart, God bless especially those who never came home and those who were left behind. I will never forget them as long as I live, and as long as I am a noncommissioned officer, my soldiers won't either. Thank you for making the world a better place through unbelievable and often horrifying personal sacrifice...

Came across lots of photo's from the war, and want to know more about what he did there. I also found a letter signed by LLOYD R. MOSES, Colonel, from Headquarters 31st Infantry written to my Dad "On the occasion of your departure from the 31st Infantry...". If you remember him please send me an email at sarge1776or@lycos.com. Comments: Looking for anyone who may have known Willie Denvard Uptain. The Army sent back a body that they said was Denvard's. Father made them open the casket. Both mother and father state that this was not thier son. Son had bright red hair. The person they said was Denvard had medium blonde hair. I am doing this for his sister Laverne Adair. Somehow in her heart she believes that her brother is still alive. She is in her sixties and needs to have this issue resolved. Please help.

Comments: I am looking for anyone who knew my Uncle, Joe Wayne Seymour. At Chosin I believe he was a Captain. I know very little about his service as he never spoke of Korea. He died in 1998, and I have since learned that he was in the Battle at Chosin. I am interested in learning all I can about his experience there. I have not discovered what unit he was with there yet, though I am certain from the details I have that he was with either the 32nd or the 31st.
Anyone know the name?

The last letter I received from him came after we had received word of his death and he talked of fierce fighting and how close the enemy was. My last letter to him was returned -- undelivered. Comments: Looking for anyone who knows about CPL Elwood M. Truslow L Company, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. His birthdate is Feb. 28, 1930 and was from Batesville Virginia. I'm told he may have been a cook in the Army. I am his niece and two of his sisters have given blood for DNA testing. He is listed MIA December 12, 1950, presuming dead. He was Caucasian, dark hair, dark skin and nice looking. Did anyone witness him getting shot?
