Comments: I am a 1LT currently stationed at Fort Knox, KY attending the Armor Officers Basic Course. I was stationed at Camp Casey, Korea South Korea with 2d Battalion, 72d Armor Regiment from February 97 to February 98. I am currently researching a battle analysis dealing with the 31st RCT at the Chosin Reservoir. I have some specific questions regarding actual events that took place during the battle. If you would like to share your experiences with me, I would certainly appreciate your time. Thank you

I started family history about 5 years ago and when I ask my father what company he was in, he said first company K then later company F. Before he died in March 1998 he couldn't remember at all. I would like to know which company he was in, if anyone remembers him? Also would like information on the movements of his unit? I am very proud of my father and my oldest son now serves in the U. S. Joined 31st Reg. in Sapporo, all through the war, then Chosin. Before Chosin, Regiment linked up with 1st Calvary "Helter Skelter", his General, was General Dean who was captured.

Comments: I might have written an entry before but I am still desparate.
Looking for PVT Marion N. Jackson, a former member of Co A,1st Bn, 31st Inf.Jackson was believed to have entered the army from Florida. He was rescued by PFC James A. Garner in a swimming incident o/a May 20, 1952 near the Hwachon Reservoir.
It was printed in "The Bear Facts" on Sunday, May 25, 1952 and in the June 5, 1952 issue of the Winston-Salem(NC) Sentinel. Garner, according to Col(Ret) Young O. KIM, Bn Commander at the time, was recommended for the Soldiers medal which he never received or was notified of the recommendation until this month.
We need eye witnesses or statements knowing about the incident.
Call LTC(Ret) Acie McGhee, Jr.-collect-1-336-788-1010 from 7 AM TO 11 PM-DAILY.

Comments: I served from May 1951 to March 1952 with Company I 31st Infantry Regt. 7th Infantry Division. Item company and King company relieved the unit that was on Heartbreak Ridge either the end of November or beginning of December, 1951. It was colder than a well diggers backside on top of that mountain. I have a photo taken on top of Heartbreak Ridge in December 1951.

Not sure of spelling's and not not sure of last known addresses. Have not seen or heard from these men since 1953 when I was discharged.
If anyone has any info please e-mail or call.
We served under a CO Smith. I was poleman and a radio man in communications.

Comments: I would like to contact anyone who served with me in 1947, prior to the outbreak of hostilities. Frank Doman of Penna. in particular.
At the latter part of 1947, just before I returned home, there was talk of disbanding 'Fox Company' and re-assigning the personnel to two other companies. As far as I could tell, staffing remained fairly constant thru 1947. I left in November, '47.

Comments: My father in law was in Korea (enl. 8/50). He was in the following unit, 31 Reg, 2nd BN, 7th Inf, E-CO. He came through the war with no injuries but to this day refuses to talk about it at all. He appearently has medals which he has not claimed. He is sick now and we wish to find out what his unit did and what experiences he may have faced. If any one was in this unit or nows the history of this unit in Korea please contact me. Thanks and God Bless!
