Others are Harold Jarneche, "Tatters", who cut my hair, and Sgt. Carson Gross, who I believe was regular army. Doctor I worked with were: Kitchens, Laurence Wilchins, Ralph kustoff, and Thyberg. There was a Lt. John Hanagan and Warrant Officer Tontti in the company . I went into combat the first time on Kings Outpost and was with E Co. at the time they were sent in relief. When E Co. was relieved I was left a few more days as they had no other medics. I recall seeing one of the shows that was sent to entertain the men, it featured Dick Contino. I have not seen nor heard from any of theses people since my discharge and would appreciate hearing from them.

Comments: I'm the son of a Korean WAR Vet. My dad talked of the 31st Inf. He was either a 1Lt or Capt. during his time in Korea. Some other things he talked about were, the Inchon Landing, Heartbreak Ridge, the Chosin Res.( the coldest he had ever been). One thing he mentioned that stuck with me was about a young soldier who for some reason my dad assigned to the chaplian, for safer duty. Later the soldier was killed when his jeep ran over a mine. I have here a book published by the Dept. of the Army. It's titled "Korea 1951-53". It was sold for $2.50 at the time. Inside it has a ton of pictures. Thanks for a great site and the time to inquire about my Dad.

Comments: I am trying to find out details about the events surrounding October 14, 1950. This is the day my Uncle Jesse Rook Cooksey was declared MIA under hostile conditions. I would also like to know more about his role, rank, any details anyone can give me. I do know that apparently he had been wounded in a previous battle and had just been released from medical care. My grandmother would never allow a funeral service of any kind because she said that as long as there was no body he might still be alive. Is there any evidence he was sent to a camp? Any information anyone has will be greatly appreciated.

Comments: Like many others, Sgt. Charles Bielecki suffered cold injury at Chosin but was one of the 385 considered battle fit and untreated. has since had joint replacement due to frostbite. VA will not honor his claim til he can prove he was there! If you remember Sgt. Charles Bielecki and can certify that he was at the Chosin Reservoir Nov.-Dec, 1950, please write to him in care of me. Thank you!

Comments: Looking for anyone who may have known Sgt. J Angus Bowen. May have been called Hank. Family was told in early Jan 1951 of Angus being missing on Nov 30 1950. Location unknown to family. No body was ever sent home for burial. He was a medic. His mother is now 90 years old and would like to know what happened to her son if anyone can help. He was from Augusta Georgia.

Comments: My Granduncle Glenn W Runge served with the 7/31 from 10/5/1951 to 10/14/1952 when he was killed in action. Glenny was a medic and family legend has it that his men called him "Runge" rather than "Medic" as he was wounded once by a North Korean who called for a medic. I'm looking for any information about Glenny himself, or about Operation Showdown which is where I belive Glenny may have been killed.
