Comments: I was station with "A" Company from 1948 to mid 1950 when the Battalion moved to Korea. During that time there were several military personnel manning the Ship-to-Shore Radio Circuits supporting the Army Transport Service. Included were: Staff Sergeants Eugene Latkowski and John Swango; M/Sgt Carlos Burton; Sergeants McCuen and McClung; Cpls Kenneth Carter, David Stein, Koichi Nishida, Fujio Matsui and myself. I would like to hear from anyone who knew or knows these people or others who were there at that time. I would also like to have an address or website where 304th memorabilia is available.

Lived in old Quonsets and did duty out of 8th Army HQ, the "Bunker", and TDY at 83rd Ord. Operated Angrc-26, KW-7. Remember Nam San Hill, Usom club, Itaewon,Bob Hope [ didn't go] KATUSAs, snack bar on base, theater, MP Co next to gate. Lots of good times, lived well for a Sgt E-5. Worse time was getting gamma globulin shot...very painful. They tried to extend me when NKs shot down Navy EC-121. I left anyway.Only Korean words I can recall are not printable.

Comments: I recall the NCOIC of the photo lab as Culpepper.I'd remember other names if I heard them, I'm sure. One fellow was from the coldest weather reporting station in Colorado. The 304th has a reunion every year or so. Contact Gene Bosken, 132 South Westlink Drive, Wichita, KS 67209 to get on the newsletter list.Since they keep adding to their roster, they may be able to help you find someone from the 304th. I'd like to hear from anyone who served in the photolab in 55-56.

LOOKING FOR YU KUN HWA OR FRED THOMPSON

PATRICIA Hozey wrote on 1999-11-28 00:00:00.0

Comments: Hi, thanks for pausing to read this... I'm looking for my uncle. His name is Yu Kun Hwa and was adopted by SSG Fred Thompson around 1955. Kun Hwa was 16 at that time and worked as a shoe shine boy. We think Fred Thompson arrived at the 304th in 1954. He adopted my uncle to save him. The last thing we knew was that they moved to Stockbridge Georgia, then possibly on to Miami. Kun Hwa may have enlisted into the U.S. Army around 1961 but got into some trouble. We've been looking for him ever since. One big problem is that we don't know if he changed his name to possibly an American one. We just miss our loved one and would be eternally grateful for any leads or information. On behalf of my Mom, thank you and God Bless. Patty

Comments: I was a Corporal, U.S. Army Reservist voluntarily recalled to active duty from August 1950 to September 1951. Was assigned to Wire Company, 304th Signal Operations Battalion, 8th Army November 1950 to September 8, 1951. I was a teletype operator in the com centers in Taegu, Pusan, and Seoul. Last assignment prior to return to U.S. was in TT Van Near Munsan-Ni and Imjin River. Field com center for Admiral Turner Joy & Company who started peace negotiations in Kaesong across Imjin. NKs blew up pontoon bridge across Imjin and dropped mortar shells on our encampment prior to my departure. Peace negotiations were broken off after my departure and the war lasted another 3 years.

Especially would like to hear from anyone who help provide communications for Admiral Turner Joy in encampment on Imjin River, near Kaesong, in summer of 195
