This unit was disbanded some years after the Korean War and was re-named 500th MI Gp. I served in this unit from 52 - 54. It was basically a unit that provided intelligence (basically, perishable OB intelligence) to the G-2 from the vast interrogations of POWs conducted at the Div and lower level. At 302d we amalgamated these reports before sending onto 8th Army Hqs G-2. It was always a small unit - no more than 25 personnel - with its CO being a Lt Col; it consisted of two companies: Admin and Ops. Keywords: Editor Note: addition of legacy communications |
